PSA: Nvidia's app can cause 15% performance drop

Nvidia's app that came out of Beta last month has been found to be causing performance issues due to the filters and photo feature. Even when you're not using it.

In a possibly related note an eagle eye neogaf user had noticed that it had a lot of processes running even idle while it was still in beta earlier this year in May:

Yeah, so fuck this App. Gave it a try for a few games. While it's nice to be able to adjust picture quality in game and add filters, it just doesn't justify how many processes run in the background related to it with the app turned Off/not running and not playing a game. Here's a photo I took and consolidated into one image while idle and not playing a game. Is this normal? Wtf is Nvidia doing, running crypto miners in people's rigs now? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

15%? I'd rather to use ReShade, its truly visual game changer for me
Yeah it's a bizarre performance cost for just filters but keep in mind it's "up to 15%". Realistically I suspect it's lower than that depending on your hardware. Nvidia have at least acknowledged the problem but how this got past the 6+ months beta is beyond me.
