PSN connection problems (12/24)

I get "The Sony Computer Entertainment Network is currently undergoing maintenance" when I try to log in (PS3, northeast US).
 
I can log into PSN and get to the store, but I can't restore licenses or actually launch the demo version of FFXIV I downloaded.
 
For those people who are online, did you try signing on recently (as in, at least in the last few hours), or have you been online for awhile? Because I think the last time PSN had maintenance, it at least let the people who were still signed in to continue being signed in. But once you log-out, gg.

I buy a ps4 and pstv for my kids and they can't fucking play anything you stupid fucks.

Can't believe I subbed PS+ for them.

Get off your "best selling" bollocks and buy a decent infrastructure.
 
I can enter the store than soon a maintenance message appears. No connection, cannot play mordor or Inquisition(want to check license online).

signed in last night and played BF4 right in the middle of reported outages. turned it on again twenty minutes ago so I'd say... 10-8 hrs in between log-ons.

I know I'm just lucky though. Sucks this happening.

Got this trying to log on to the webstore too, followed by just a "failed sign in". Kinda of hoping I'll still be able to transfer my world state for Dragon Age or I'm gonna be pretty mad.

This. My big present to my brother was a PSTV and SWO and he can't even download it much less play it. This is beyond fucked.

Got to settings > network and uncheck connect to internet. Play SP stuff offline untill the rush subsides.

Also, if you are signed in, you are mostly good to go. Its the auth servers being hammered.
 
I got my kids a PS4 with the choose 1 game voucher. PSN is half up half down, I entered the code but it didn't send the unlock through to my account. Great, just great.
 
I am getting no problems at all. Got onto PSN no problem and access the store as well.

It is taking ages to download the 6gb Unity patch.
 
Earned a couple of trophies in Dragon Age: Inquisition, but they don't seem to sync with PSN at all. :/ Which makes me scared, since some of these trophies are a pain in the ass to get after quite a lot of gaming time.
 
This is why consoles need to be set up prior to Christmas morning. The network always gets hammered whenever there is a big influx of users.

I reported several hours ago that it seemed to be working normally. However, I tried the PS4 a few minutes ago, and once again it is giving a "maintenance" message.
 
Expected this. I didn't even bother to try to sign in last night. Might be better for those who just bought a PS4 to set it up tomorrow. I don't think the heavy traffic is going to let up until tomorrow or later in the day.

Sucks, I can't get on GTA Online. :(

Don't worry they'll sync up fine once PSN is working properly.

Just keep the code, if anything went wrong, support should be able to verify and unlock.
 
I cannot log into PSN. My son is not happy that he cannot play online with his friends. Grrrr.... Way to go Sony! When you charge for online play, it has to work.
 
The hamsters have run off the wheels. I guess my plan to play Fibbage today is not going to happen. smh.
 
Lots of people will be getting PS4's & Xbones for Xmas & they will be connecting for the first time, then there is the consoles update patch, then there is all the games that will need to download their updates, best thing to do if you are getting a console for someone at Xmas is to open it before & run the update, the best thing to do is if you already have a console is to not use it on Xmas or Boxing day, it is fine to have one or two none-gaming days in the year.
 
The digital future is here and you are all going to embrace it... At least the PS4 can play games offline if you own a physical copy.

But really, I want a few months free of PS+. I don't use the service other than holiday weekends and otherwise maybe a couple times a month to play online with friends. If I spend 3 hours a month playing online, that is about it these days and now when I want to sit down and play with friends and family, you can't even keep your paid service up?

I can't see how companies are still doing this? In past years with XBL, they would go down for at least a weekend every year if not a couple of weeks and we get a crappy diving game out of it. How are these companies not held far more accountable?

Dunno why people insist on lumping in Xbox in these kinds of posts. XBL is up and working.
 
Just set up my new PS4. I was able to download the 2.03 system update, but like evrybody else I'm unable to log in to psn.

How could Sony not be ready for this? Oh nevermind it's Sony.

As I posted before. MS have a shit load of servers for more reasons then just the Xbox. There is no point in Sony having loads of unused servers for the PS, which would cost them a lot money. Yes they could have more of a back up. But I doubt that would do much. My PSN is fine and I am on GTA right now.

That's not a solution, the network goes down way too often.

People were reporting it was down last night. It been better then PSN, but you can't do too much when you're getting either DDOS'ed or have a huge influx if users trying to sign in at once. Both are open to these attacks and issues.
 
c'mon it's christmas. lots of people trying to set up and play their ps4 for the first time.

that said...sony still really need to sort out their network.
