PSN connection problems (12/24)

But that's not how a DDOS works. It doesn't just turn off their servers and make them have to drive over and turn them on. It's an on-going thing until whoever is doing it decides to stop. Sure, there are possibly things that can be done depending on how severe the DDOS is, but if it's bad enough nothing can happen until the attackers stop. You can be mad all you want, but you are just assuming they are just being lazy/incompetent and are at fault. Unless you know the circumstances better than others here?
The attacks were claimed to have been stopped a while ago and - as far as I've heard - xbox live has been up almost as long. PSN has plenty of troubles even without attacks so I'm inclined to agree Sony could be doing better.

Live wasn't and still isn't up for everyone.

Why exactly should I assume Sony is being selectively targeted still while other services are no longer being attacked? Every element of Sony's PSN has been accused of being slow to respond. Updating their store, releasing updates, giving responses to issues, fixing issues. Why should I suddenly give them the benefit of the doubt that they are putting just as much resources into a service they charge for as their competitor that was able to get its service back up quickly?

so you DON'T understand how DDOS attacks work? :o

From my experience: Since PS4 launch, I have rarely had ANY problems with PSN. I bought my PS4 day 1, and on day 1 I had some issues but since than it's been minimal. The biggest issue has been able to send and receive message instantly. I play Destiny ALL the time on raids (which can take hours ; __ ; ) to PVP. The most notable PSN crashes have been the DDOS.

For some, "live" isn't working as properly either.

Live wasn't and still isn't up for everyone.

Your ignorance on this matter is getting boring. The fact is, many gamers simply want to play online and are pissed that they can't due to what the hackers have done. And you choose to roll out this flamebait instead in this meta game. You'll get no more attention from me after this. Blocked.

Nothing about what I said should lead you to that conclusion

You saying that although you are NOT upset about DDOS but at them fixing the problem:

I'm not upset at them going down to a DDOS. I'm upset at their molasses nature at fixing a problem and responding at all.

yet you are stuck on blaming them for DDOS

Why exactly should I assume Sony is being selectively targeted still while other services are no longer being attacked?

I see no reason why I should assume they are just being specially targeted for longer. .

when you know that DDOS at the current state of the internet, it CAN'T BE HELPED?...

And I quoted the XBL because you said..

Other services have already recovered in a much more timely manner.

Since it's still down for some people.

Please stop acting as if DDOS is some hard concept to understand. It's dead simple. Hacked/spoofed instances of computers spam a server until it goes down. I get that. Can we please not act like some people not being able to get onto live is equal to basically nobody being able to get onto PSN?

Nobody? Are you sure?

Nobody on PSN? Where are you getting your info? I was on PSN last night for 8 hours before I went to bed. Go to destinystatus.com and put my PSN: keltin99 It should say I played my "warlock for 1hr and a half" and titan for "3 hour" 15 hours ago. That is on Christmas day.

Nobody? Are you sure?
He hoped that bold statement like that will back up his bold arguments. lol :P

About 5 people in my Destiny clan are online playing right now on PS4. Many Gaffers have reported being able to log in to their PS4's as well.

That's what I get for using absolutes and expecting people to not literally take it as an absolute.

I said "basically nobody", which is another way of saying "almost nobody".

Is "almost nobody" your FINAL "Two Words"?

Yes, same for my clan.

He can also check by going to "http://www.destinylfg.net"
and filter it to "playstation 4" ... he will see ALOT people looking for a group on Playstation 4 unless people are looking for groups on PS4 for fun without being able to actually play LOL

You're actually missing the point. Which is that both services have been partially up all day today. Some people have been able to log in, with regards to each respective service, all throughout the day, while others have not.

I'm on PS4 but unable to play GTA Online. Everything else seems to be working though.

In any case, I'm not logging out until I know this shit is over.

Why are you even responding if it's just to make lame jokes? Do you have any idea how many people use my name as a pun here?

My biggest issue with Sony is that whenever shit like this happens, they go silent. Aside from the usual "We are aware that some users are experiencing problems with the Playstation network" nonsense. Give us a friggin' heads up what's going on and what you're really doing to fix it, dammit.

Still down in Lithuania.

Quite annoyed because DA:I downloaded, installed and then downloaded the update without any issues during this whole maintenance thing. :(

Same issue with The Last of Us: Remastered here. They have to do some stupid ownership check.

I feel sorry for all the little children who couldn't enjoy their PS4s during Christmas. All they wanted was to play some CoD Multiplayer :(

Nah. They say they're not attacking anymore.

I'd say we're experiencing the results of Christmas overload right now.

I asked about proofs because for me this is from the beginning just a christmas overload
And that's will explain why Xbox Live went down at the same (but for a shorter...) time

It's easy for a fake predict that both services will go down december 24 just an hour after midnight
