I'm going to add this to the first post as well.
I expected them to not divert and to just focus on their own problems. Sure, other networks have been affected, but right now it is just PSN that is down.
If iTunes would have been down for 4 days, Apple's CEO would have written an open letter to apologize for the continued outage.
I do not see any of that rhetoric in the post. This is no longer a DDOS issue, it is a Sony issue.
Our source told us that Sony's security was "outdated and ineffective." The person described Sony's security policies as "idiotic" and expected more from a company with more than 100,000 employees worldwide.
The employee who works with the Sony network said the company's internal IT team was "terrible," consisting of "incompetent people."
We saw evidence of just how poor Sony's security was in the files that hackers posted online. A series of documents stored in a folder named "Password" contained login information for administration accounts, social media accounts, and even SSL certificates.
The source close to Sony also said the company hadn't learned from previous hacks.
In June 2011 the hacker group LulzSec, an offshoot from Anonymous, hacked into Sony Pictures. They said they obtained "usernames, passwords, email addresses, and dates of birth for thousands of people." The group used a common tactic against Sony Pictures, using an SQL injection attack to gain access to the company's computer network.
To our source's knowledge, none of the security people in contact with the source were fired over previous hacks, and it's unclear whether Sony terminated anyone for those security lapses. That could mean that the same people who were meant to defend the company's servers in 2011 are still presiding over its security.
How is fucking PSN still not up yet?
Apple wouldn't go down for 4 days...just like ms hasn't been down for 4 days. I have no hope for sony.I expected them to not divert and to just focus on their own problems. Sure, other networks have been affected, but right now it is just PSN that is down.

I love that fake account![]()
haha
Really curious to the level of security that Sony really has.
I mean, the 2011 hack, the sony pictures hack, etc.
Are they really working with prehistoric security measures?
Man, I would love to be an employee in IT for a week to get an inside look.
I would love to see what percentage of PSPlus revenue was actually applied towards expanding and upgrading Sony's servers and online functionality. I suspect if we knew the numbers they would be pretty appallingly low, and Sony has basically treated Plus as more of a free cash grab than an actual attempt to improve their infrastructure and compete with Xbox Live.
I honestly don't know why anyone would but a Sony system who wants to play online. Who gives a shit about 1080 vs 900p if you can't actually play the games? It was this same crap when I was trying to play Destiny, this is nothing new, Sony has learned absolutely nothing.
The age of Sony is done!I honestly don't know why anyone would but a Sony system who wants to play online. Who gives a shit about 1080 vs 900p if you can't actually play the games? It was this same crap when I was trying to play Destiny, this is nothing new, Sony has learned absolutely nothing.
At this point I just wish PSN would come up long enough for me to sync my trophies. It's pretty messed up that I can't check my trophy list offline.
