PSN in March; Spend $50 get $10 back

I'm also reconsidering how I approach my future PS3 purchases given the fact that BC in the PS4 is either very limited or not present at all. I like to trade-in previous gen hardware when the new gen arrives. I like to streamline the hardware sitting under my TV. This is the first time in more than 15 years where I haven't been able to rely on PlayStation BC to smooth the transition, so I honestly am not sure how I want to approach it.

Still haven't gotten the other ten bucks, SCEA. Ya jerks.

... will spend fifty bucks in March anyway, probably. I can always re-up PS Plus. Sometimes I do it just for funsies. I'm at 17 years now.

We are counting solo Plus 12 month sub purchases as $50. so you won't have to worry if you're total is 49.99, you'll be set. But that only goes for Plus 12 month sub purchases. I can't speak for other purchases that may be $49.99. Hope that helps!

Awesome, thanks for mentioning that.

That's actually good to hear thanks!

so you don't have a ps3.

i see now.
I do have one. I may not have one when the PS4 comes out. So it makes me wonder why I should even continue to spend money on a service that will only be available to me for the next couple of months. Its been a bitter pill to swallow.

I don't see why this such an unreasonable take for all the people quoting me, but oh well.

My question is: Is this valid for the US store only? Or for all NA stores? I have credit on the Mexican store...

Yes the 1 year plus applies, in fact just buying it would net you $10 back, it was stated a few posts above.

1 year of PS+ is almost a no brainer since you get 3 extra months and with 1 more cent you get $10 back. :p From that point, there's enough content on PSN to spend $50 on although I'm speaking for myself. I should easily reach $100 by April.

I think I may reach 150-200 total spendings myself lol, of course one of those $50 is for Plus which I'm getting tomorrow after the store updates XP.

I wouldn't say foolish. It takes a long time for most titles to go free, and it's possible whatever you're interested in will never do so. Rule is dont buy anything you won't play immediately unless it's on sale.

With my backlog, I can wait as long as it takes, lol.

This makes a mighty good argument for purchasing Plus since it has a 3 free months offer right now.

Indeed. Will extend my PS+ subscription for 15 months (even though + is currently a joke).
And + is also available on the PS4.

Hopefully there are some sales as well. Then I might go even for $100. Unfortunately the Vita is region-locked (ok, region-free, but account-locked) so I cannot buy Vita games on the US store (or use the PS+ freebies).

Why would I spend anything on PSN now knowing that nothing is backwards compatible with the PS4?

The PSP2 weeps that people forget it.

It's okay, Sony forgot it as well.

Anyway, DOA5+ would put me over that point nearly. Just would need a $10 game or DLC that month to get the rebate back.

Tempting, was thinking about getting dw7 empires and persona 2. Guess I should renew ps+, get an avatar, the use the $10 on the games

will probably get a PSN + year while the extra 3 months are offered, good deal.

Also, i get what people are saying about not wanting to buy digitally or at all really now that ps4 isn't bc in the slightest, i'm on my second ps3, third xbox 360, and would be on my second wii if i cared, and if publishers made reliable hardware not having bc wouldn't be so huge, but they don't. Ticking time bombs, all of 'em.

So... is it possible to get the PS+ promo of 12 months + 3 months for $50 and $10 back? If so, then it is a very good deal.

Although... now that I think about it. Do you guys think the PS+ promotion would work?

I say this because the PS+ deal is $49.99, so you still need one cent.

Sony is killing it with their PSN deals of late. This is pretty much a great way for a buddy of mine to take advantage of a 15 month PS+ subscription for essentially $40.

well if they give you 10 for 50 then 49.99 just wont cut it
make it big

I honestly can really see this taking off. Don't people really love Amazon because they give you $10 promotional credit for pre-ordering many games? With this that will be for every game (since they are really pushing day 1 digital now) plus $10 towards your next potential $10 back. Only thing holding this back is hard drive space.

I also see a lot of people not too thrilled since none of your purchases will work on PS4. While surely this month-by-month promotion will still be in effect for PS4, perhaps they will do something with Gaikai to stream all your digital purchased PS3 items to your PS4 without needing the subscription level that gets you the Gaikai streaming, if you follow what I'm saying. Wouldn't be quite the same but would certain be better than nothing.

By the way... a tip for NonUSA-GAF.

I live in the border with USA, in Mexico. Well, the International Bridge is like at 10 minutes away from my house, so I get to go the USA about 3 times per week, just for shopping. Well, I buy all my systems and games there.

But, I have all my accounts set in the USA (PSN, Live, eShop)... so, I can easily buy PSN Cards, Live Cards and eShop cards in USA. But, unfortunately, I can't use my Mexican credit card directly on the consoles because the accounts are set to the USA.

But, Best Buy accepts International Cards to make purchases, including digital codes. But they are always Out of Stock (how is this possible) of PSN codes.

But you can still buy the codes from Amazon. Just use your regular credit/debit card information, but use a USA Address (any address). If you guys have any doubts, send me a PM. I just purchased a $50 code a few minutes ago, so it is working.

Bummer since I just renewed PS+ recently (though I did that with a card, so I guess it wouldn't have counted) and bought a bunch of FF games with the sale. But I'll be buying some vita games with the anniversary sale, so maybe I'll hit 50 in march.

As someone that will pick up The Show on the 5th this does make me think about grabbing the DD version. Good to know.

Amazon actually has not been doing $10 back as much lately, they didn't do it for Metal Gear Rising or I would have bought it there, and they are only giving $5 back for Tomb Raider. Also Amazon got rid of the $1 release day delivery, some new releases for me have taken 5 days with their free super saver shipping. I still like amazon a lot but for console games lately Newegg, goHastings, even MS Store has had better deals.

I will get another year Plus before that extra 3 months deal expires, then preorder Bioshock Infinite, too bad Tomb Raider does not seem to be releasing digital for a while since I would get that also and get $30 back. Likely get TR from Amazon, hopefully someone else this week pops up with $10 offer for TR.

I was going to buy/preorder Ayesha + One year of PS Plus today, but I will gladly wait a few more days so I have $20 bonus to spend. :D

No it doesn't. People aren't going to be intersted in paying a monthly fee to play games they already own with the benefit of input lag.

So just keep your ps3? Why is this such a big deal? It is not like all ps3's are going to suddenly stop working and disappear from earth when the ps4 drops lol.

Fair warning that the game is like 30 GB in size.

21gb actually.

I love when sony does promo's like these since I generally spend at least 150+ each month on psn anyways, and promos like these help push me over the edge on older stuff I have wanted to buy but just never got around to it.

Should end up with at least 30 to 40 bucks from this one when the month is over.

Neat. Still have the free $10 from PS4 day too, so I just need to spend $40

Except I have no idea what to buy. I wish Naruto Storm 3 was going to be available digitally, that'd make it a no-brainer. Maybe Sly 4 and....something else.

Get a PS+ subscription. Good value for your money.

Don't remind me. Might pick up some psp games.

Oh, it's $10 back for every $50 this time, nice. Looks like I'm waiting a few days to pick up this week's sales. :)
Pretty good promotion and it works with PS+ with 3 more months.

Why? You already gave a select few of PSN users $10 for nothing at all. Now the rest of us have to spend in order to get it?
It was planned all along.

Sweet!
Kinda wished I still had that $10 from last week haha. Oh well.
