There was a later version of the tiff exploit released that didn't require the use of the wallpaper image. I guess that this is the version that has been used and the wallpaper png is now a redundant step.

That must be it as I'm now cooking with oil!

Okay, I officially owe this Yoshi fellow a beer.

Now that I'm 1.50 and not nearly patient enough to read the sticky, can one of you privvy, PLEASE just give me a bullet-point list of links to the best 1.50 exploit (KXPloit? I use a Mac...) and a few of the main EMU things to get me going. I also read there's a firmware detection bypasser. True?

Oh Gawd, Wipeout is so much better playing it with the CPU at 333Mhz. That alone is worth downgrading to 1.50.

amen to this

Check out http://www.psp-spot.com i think they got everything u need

edit* I gotta say this thing makes the PERFECT portable emulation system , get one 1 or 2 gb mem stick and you can set it up so its a dedicated emu stick then swap out for another to play regular stuff.

Emus look great on psp

Can you delete all the stuff you needed to put on the PSP after you downgrade?

And uh, where can I get exact details of how to get stuff like the Wipeout thing and all the other stuff to work? I suck at this shit.

Follow the instructions ...

Steps to use the MPH downgrader:
- Create an UPDATE folder in the /PSP/GAME/ folder of your memory stick
- Copy EBOOT.PBP (update 1.50) in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder
- Unpack MPHDowngrader.zip
- Copy overflow.tif in your /PSP/PHOTO/ folder of your memory stick
(make sure you have already changed your background to frame_buffer.png as explained in the toc2rta exploit.)
- Copy h.bin to root of your memory stick (meaning in ms0:/)
- Copy index.dat in root of your memory stick (meaning in ms0:/ as well)
- Plug the AC adaptor

You memory stick filesystem should look like this (where X is your memory sticks directory):

X:/h.bin
X:/index.dat
X:/PSP/PHOTO/overflow.tif (with no other pictures in there)
X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP (the 1.50 Firmware update eboot)

What you do next is go into the Photo Menu on the PSP and it will show some jumbled text, which is normal. Wait about 30 seconds and then restart your PSP.

From there you will now have a new file in your PSP’s root directory called ms0:/index.dat.bak. In the next step you will go to your Game Menu, Then Memory Stick, and then Launch “PSP Update ver 1.50.”

It will then ask you if you really want to downgrade and then lead you along to the actual installing. Here is where I got scared. It installed to 99% then errored. This is OK. Restart your PSP and turn it back on. It will come up with another error which is OK as well. Restart it again and you will have PSP firmware version 1.50, and it will lead you through setting up language and time etc. Enjoy, and welcome to the world of legal homebrew, not piracy.

I updated my PSP to 2.0 to try the browser (which was cool even though I couldn't log into GAF) and then I tried the quoted procedure. It worked even though I got scared a bit at some point.

I can't say that I would do that everyday. Can't wait to see if someone will brick his PSP by doing this 3x a day.

Welcome back to 1.50 :)

Ok, my network settings went to default and I had to scan for my router and when I entered my WEP key it said it's invalid. I know my WEP key is correct but I'm not sure why it says it's invalid.

Any help?

I have an aussie PSP which I upgaded to 2.00 (long time ago) and just today when the downgrader came out i put it to 1.50.

Damn, what I'm doing wrong? All i get is a "The game could not be started. (80020148)" message when I try to run 1.5 update ver 1.50. I'm trying to do this from 32meg memorystick. Is it too small for doing the downgrade?

It's even better with custom soundtrack. Search for instructions on how to do it, it's more than worth it.

Even more so in case of Burnout Legends.

umm i dont know what the hell I did but apparently my 2.0 PSP was downgraded to 1.0. When I started to play TOCA 2, it said "you have 1.00, you must upgrade to 1.50" and voi'la, now I have 1.50 PSP.
