PSP: Burnout Legends

My superdupersecret insider source, which arrived in the mail today and goes by the initials OPM (June 2005), tells me that Criterion expects to have a Burnout game out for the PSP this fall. Burnout Legends is a compilation of tracks from previous games. These include Harbour Town, Palm Bay Heights, Big Surf Shore, and Downtown. Pursuit mode returns along with some new ones, including Pursuit Rage. WiFi multiplayer is confirmed, but there's no mention of online play. Some reservations about the speed and the controls were noted.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted is the cover story.

I don't like this trend of PSP games being remixes of their console versions. I'm happy with my PSP as I believe it has enough original titles (I own MGA and Lumines right now), but its a disappointing trend nonetheless

Nice! Any other technical info about Burnout on PSP? What's on the magazine's demo disc?
The screenshots make it look great: plenty of details, deep draw distance, and lots of sparks. Also, the old tracks will be remade using the "realistic" style as found in Burnout Revenge.

On the demo disc, the playables (though I haven't popped it in to make sure) are Madagascar, Stolen, Juiced, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, Fight Night Round 2, Lego Star Wars, and Star Wars Battlefront. Non-interactive items are MX vs ATV Unleashed, Mobile Suit Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, Destroy All Humans, 25 to Life, Dynasty Warriors 5, and Hot Shots Golf PSP.

Now that's a PSP game that I would buy! Burnout is the sort of franchise that I'd like to see on a handheld, and I'd fit on the PSP perfectly.

YES!

Burnout is a great franchise for a handheld in my opinion, as long as Criterion gets the load times under control. That so far has been the most annoying thing with the system. ATV had the load times of doom on it.

I thought from the title this was going to be about Untold Legends being repetitive.

Good news, though I never tried the burnout series

I'll happily endorse a petition for fewer remixes on the PSP...just as soon as Burnout Legends is on store shelves ;)

No "We need this on DS, come on, there are no racing games on DS and itll sell well cuz of no competition" posts?

This game is mine ten times over. After Burnout 3, I am and will forever be a Burnout fanboy.

This is excellent news! I've been anticipating this ever since the early rumors; it's great to know that this game truly is on its way to PSP! :)

Shit this might make me buy a PSP! Will be my first Sony console ever! Well handheld ;p

I've been a fan right from the start. I hope the older tracks maintain the same amount of traffic. I loved the higher density of traffic in the older games. Much more intense. They need a remake of River City and Rush Hour from Burnout 1!

Whoah just got my issue but I haven't flipped through it yet. Was watching the HSG PSP video on the disc. Looks pretty cool though.

more details

-A compilation of tracks from the past games, updated with the new graphical look of Burnout: Revenge (4)
-Modes include Race, Road Rage, Crash, Eliminator, Burning Lap, and the resurrection of Pursuit from Burnout 2. Including PSP unique modes like pursuit rage (Pursuit + Road Rage), Legends face-off, and Legends grand-prix
-Wi-Fi multiplayer!
-One unique feature they are trying - content unlocked only through multiplayer matches. (example - winning a car after beating someone in Eliminator mode)
-Another feature being tested is the ability to send a friend a one race demo of the game (if he doesn't have the game) that he keeps as long as his PSP is on

That could be really cool. It'd be better if you could send them a demo to the MS, though that might deter them from buying the game (what do I need the game for, the demo is good enough!).

Um that sort of sucks if you don't know anyone with a PSP! It should be like Smash Bros where you can unlock things in either single player or multiplayer.
