PSP directory for MP3s?

I've been rocking to the video on the PSP and decided to throw some MP3s on it tonight as well. What is the directory that needs to be used (or created) for the MP3s to be recognized? Searched a bit here and didn't find anything relevant.

Format your memory stick so the PSP will make the directories for the folder "PSP" for you. If you didn't do that, you can make the Folders and Directories yourself. Directories of your memory stick should look like this tree when recognized as a drive:

MP_ROOT
--> "100MNV01"

One folder within MP_ROOT

PSP
--> "GAME"
--> "MUSIC"
--> "PHOTO"
--> "SAVEDATA"

Four folders within PSP

Under the folder "Music" you can drag n drop mp3 files in there or make folders within "Music" of to sort the mp3s.

quick question:
I remember reading that you can add album image to a folder or something. What is the file type I need for that, and where would I place it?

Mind you I'm waiting for the NA launch and don't have a psp yet, but I just want to archive these tips so I won't be looking everywhere when I get the unit.

Well, for your videos, a little image is automatically made when you encode a video using 3GP/Image Converter. For instance, one of your mp4 movies is titled: "M4V56479" and you will also have a file called "M4V56479.htm". That *.htm file is a 160x120 jpeg file.

Now for album images for say a mp3/photo folder? IIRC Marconelly figured out how to make one...

Damn, I kept deleting those .htm files not knowing what the hell they're for. :lol

I copied some music to my PSP, and with some of it you get full info (album name, artist name, even album cover), while some you get nada, even though in both case I didn't copy any additional files.

For adding album art (or porn) to your PSP mp3's you can use:

1) Media Tagger - freeware found here

2) Media Player 10 - under Library, rt-click on the file to be altered and select Advanced Tab Editor. Its painless from there. (You may need to designate it as Cover (Front) under type but I haven't tested it yet)

Enjoy!

Anyone know how to place photos into the PSP folder called "Digital Camera Images"? Defensor got it to work when he used a certain type of Memory Stick but I've been unsuccessful.

I think thats a 'soft' folder - i.e. not a real one on the stick. Its for looking at photos you've taken on a digital camera directly. So I'd expect it to want a folder structure like a Digicam card.

They're located in something like /DCIM/MSCD0001/ or something like that. Just look at the file structure for any memory card you've used in a Sony camera. It only recognizes pictures with a certain prefix (DSC something maybe).
