PSP list @ E3

Lots of info here and there so if i've missed something or am misinformed please correct me.

New, exclusive to the PSP games:
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Metal Gear Ac!d 2
Lemmings
Bounty Hounds
Daxter
Socom
Frantix
Gripshift
Guilty Gear Judgement

New multiplatform games:
The Apprentice
50 Cent: Bulletproof
Star Wars Battlefront II
Madden 2006
NBA Ballers

New remakes:
Monster Hunter G
Street Fighter Alpha
Mortal Kombat
Midway Arcade Treasures
Frogger
Ys: The Ark of Napishtim

These are the ones i can confirm and with so much good news about current gen games, PS3, and 360 i'm absolutely underwhelmed. Feel like i just realized that the beachfront property i bought in Arizona is worthless lol. I'm sure GTA will be a good game but i'm not expecting what i was before since it's not being done by Rockstar North (hopefully i'll be surprised), no sign of Grand Turismo Mobile, a whopping 1 RPG. Luckily it's not true caveat emptor, looks like my PSP will make a fine sacrifice to help pay for a 360 lol. Man a joint bank account is the biggest mistake i ever made =(

Here's the best PSP news i've had for E3 week

Star.JPG

Launch was pretty hot, I've already got 10 PSP games and there's about 3 or 4 more coming out I want.

I'm excited for Midnight Club 3, I'm happy to see Ys is on its way out... Maybe I'll get SFA... and that's it. :( Let's get those devkits workin', guys.

I hope nothing happened to Gran Turismo 4. The only real positive PSP news (to me) was before E3 when Virtua Tennis was announced which really sucks.

damn, did you complete HSG 100%? How long did that take you?

Not quite 100%, i'm only short 2 medals now (super sidespin hole out and super backspin holeout). Have everything else though, putting, challenges, etc. I got the game release day and did this monday so like 2 weeks. After the first week or so i could finish 18 holes in under 15 mins or so and shoot well. Kinda like real golf i guess you play more by feeling and less by mechanics :lol

Lacks a Castlevania title.

Hmm haven't read or seen anything on this, not that i dont' believe you but mind giving me a link or something? Would like to see it myself and that plus i'm trying to only list stuff that's been 100% confirmed.

"Monster Hunter owns. Monster Hunter downscaled to PSP and lacking online play at that does not. >:("

wireless amongst friends means you can actually coordinate stuff. It was painful using the text input on the PS2 version.

My major concern is the load times. In multiplayer, that's gonna make a HUGE difference.
If someone is getting their asses kicked in a different zone and you have to run to help, those loadtimes between zones need to be as tiny as possible.

i've been real disappointed by the lack of any new game announcements. there are a few, but not nearly the amount i expected.

Wow, the future release list for PSP seems very lacking. Madden '06 is the only release that is making me even want a PSP. That isn't enough when I can get my Madden fix on Xbox/Xbox 360.

Not a whole lot of games coming out obviously, but I've never needed an overwhelming amount of them to keep me happy when it comes to handhelds. I'm really looking forward to GTA, MGA2, SFA, Virtua Tennis and Daxter, though.

We knew about most of these prior to the week before E3, the games that are E3 news i've added. Trying to keep the list to stuff that's either new or dispells vaporware. The list isn't meant to be an upcoming releases list, it's more of an "oh i didn't know about that" list.

I am disappointed with the PSP list @ e3. Nothing really grabs you.

HOT|Might buy list

Burnout Legends
Pursuit Force
VFJoe
GTA

Is Virtua Tennis at E3?

Pursuit Force looks fucking swank. Interested in seeing the possibilities with a PSP Sims 2. Also glad to hear about the new Guilty Gear game.

Lack of GT Mobile is really shitty. But it's not like I need a ton of AAA titles to make me happy, since I get a lot of use of the PSPs other features.

Yeah Virtua Tennis was at the Sony booth right beside Coded Arms.
It looked nice, I'm definitely picking that up.

And Burnout Legends too. Tried a track from Burnout 2 and played like Burnout 3. They got the sensation of speed right sans motion blur. The impact time isn't as flashy with less car parts flying all over the place...and the not much traffic may have been a demo thing. So far so good, but I already think its a good purchase even at this point.

Yeah, If PSP is your main gaming platform, then it sucks. But I look at the system as a secondary platform, most of my $$$ goes towards PS2. I'm only going to get a few PSP games per year as it is...so It's not too bad (for me at least).

where is that konami SRPG twelve? where is the online support? All the games seem to be just local wireless. Where the hell is a proper web browser? GTmobile?

meh. I was really expecting alot more PSP stuff on the show floor.

edit: are people just not covering it because they are all amped on PS3/360? or is this really all there is?

WHERE THE FUCK IS PUZZLE FIGHTER?????????

Wow, this is umm...not cool. There is a suprisingly equal number of DS titles that share my interest as there are PSP games I am looking forward to. I really expected Sony/3rd parties to reveal some serious guns at the show...at least PS3 is looking hawt. :/

In the meantime, I AM currently -very- hooked on MGAcid, very quirky game, hopefully MGA2 tightens things up a bit.

I can't remember how many games there were in all, but the PSP show space wasn't exactly covering a majority not even half of Sony's entire space. There are some cool games to play here and there, but from a PR perspective, it was a bit weak. It's as if PSP was last year's thing...Sony needs to try harder.

I bailed, I predicted this, praise me!

MGA rocks though.

EA's upcoming sports titles and Metal Gear Ac!d 2 are online.

I was expecting more from the PSP at E3 to be honest. There are upcoming games I'm looking forward to (MediEvil and Namco Museum Battle Collection come to mind), but I expected companies like Capcom, Konami and Namco would be holding a lot of announcements back for E3. Instead we have 3 ports from Capcom (and sans the one port I really wanted, Capcom Classics Collection), one semi-interesting game from Konami and western developed shovelware from Namco. It's hard to see what's goint to turn PSP sales around in Japan this year at this point.

Someone tell me more about the PSP version of Lemmings.
Not much out there right now...

Gamespot said:
SCEE announces that a PSP version of DMA Design's classic puzzle game will fall into European stores later this year.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that it plans to release a PlayStation Portable version of Lemmings toward the end of this year. The game, in case you're not familiar with any of the series' numerous incarnations dating back as far as 1991, challenges you to safeguard the lives of green-haired lemmings as they attempt to negotiate levels packed full of hazards. You'll do this by assigning different roles to individual lemmings, such as bridge builder, miner, parachutist, and blocker.

Currently in development at Team 17, the PSP version of Lemmings will feature both classic and all-new levels and will also let you create your own that can be shared with friends. Sony also plans to release its own downloadable content for the game, including new themes and levels.

We'll bring you more information on Lemmings as soon as it becomes available.

How is Guilty Gear Judgement a "new remake" when it's a brand new sidescrolling action game, while at the same time Ys 6 which is a fucking port gets into the "new exclusive games" section?! Your list has issues. :P

I meant that PSP *needs* a Castlevania title and that it's very sad there's none shown at E3. Stupid Konami. Stupid fucktards.

I don't see what the big let down is, did anyone really think that sony would push a portable over their home consoles??? The only reason Nintendo does it is because they don't have enough to show on their home consoles. 3rd parties are also just starting up or are in the middle of their next gen development right now and i doubt they have the man power to spare to crank out 5 games a year on the portable. Seeing as the PSP is going to have a 10 year life span (apparently >_>) maybe we all just have to sit and wait for the goodies to come. :)

Lemmings!

Now THAT's a puzzle game I can get into. Unlike the much-ballyooed Lumines. But then I was never much of a Tetris fan, either.

Now someone just needs to make an Incredible Machine or Lost Vikings for the PSP, and I'll be all set.

Incredible Machine is such an awesome puzzler. I've love to see one on PSP.

Have you played the version featuring Ghosts'n'Goblins characters on the PS? They should port that to PSP!

I'm just going by what people can prove. Alot has been said but if there's no screens or proof it's no good imo.

Continuing the Guilty Gear goodness, Majesco also unveiled Guilty Gear Judgment for Sony's PSP. At first glance, Judgment looks to be a side-scrolling beat-em-up, similar to Final Fight. But, looking at them more, it may be a set screen (not side-scrolling). Right now, we're just waiting for official details to be released.

Go ahead and take a look at the first seven screens:

You're right it's probably a new sidescroller but i refuse to move it till they officially say it is lol. The way they re-release fighters these days the skeptic in me says it's a remake till i'm told otherwise. Hell i really hope i'm wrong, a new sidescroller is 100x more interesting to me than another remade fighter.

Call me naive but if it was a port i was assuming they'd say so. Personally i've never played the game but if it's a port i'll be more than willing to move it, guess the whole "new chapter" really made me assume it's a new game. Upon further digging around i'll move it.

BO Legends on the floor looks a lot different than the pics we've seen earlier, which had the more "gritty" BO4 look and lots and lots of motion blur.

It's actually pretty shocking that PSP wasn't mentioned at all during Sony's conference (outside of it's relation to the PS3). Sure Sony has to counter the Xbox360 hype with the PS3, but to leave your 2 month old hand held out to dry is sad.

Ah I understand completely. If you look at the pics at Gamespot you can clearly see that regardless if it's a set screen or a scrolling action game (the latter being much more possible) it's a brand new game. I've played every single Guilty Gear game and I've never seen most of those enemies. It's definitely new and definitely not a fighter (you can only see one lifebar, and there are tons of enemies). Hope that helps.

Yeah I blame the shady PR trying to fool people that haven't been keeping up with Ys news. Ys6 PS2 and PSP are both ports of the PC version. :\

Ok, fixed. Gamespot only has pics but if you've played them all (i've played 1 for about 15 mins lol) i'll take your word for it :D

Still an uninspiring list to say the least. Sad thing is, the most hype that PSP can push in the next half year would be if 1GB sticks became very affordable and available or if an official web browser was released. The latter being huge.
