PSP released and no NDS pricedrop? Nintendo unafraid?

No DS: "Nintendo hasn't done shit like they always do!"
DS: "Nintendo fears the PSP!"

Why can't they catch a break?

Well damnit, someone needs to price drop. The shitty "value pack" for PSP and Nintendo not budging on the DS price means I'll be focused on the dwindling GBA releases for a while. At least there's Twisted and Fire Emblem coming.

A 1M unit launch will put the US PSP on the same footing as the JP PSP. They might not sell out in March afterall, but they'll sell out in due time. And the gap here will probably look similar to that in JP. Nintendo should enjoy close a 3M unit gap in shipped totals, but the sell-through should closer to 2M. Then again, the gap will continue to grow in Europe for as long as Sony delays over there. PEACE.
Both sell through and shipments should be closer to a 3 million gap by the end of March...

DS JP~ 1.9M
DS NA~ 1.9M
DS EU~ 0.9M
DS WW~ 4.7M (6M shipped)

PSP JP~ 1.1M
PSP NA~ 1M
PSP WW~ 2.1M (3M shipped)

...those being fairly conservative DS figures and optimsitic PSP figures. It's pretty likely DS will be over 5M sold through by the end of March though even, and very possible for PSP to be under 2M also.

That's not true. DS have sold more units in Japan than United States.

To date:

America: 1,487,685 units (NPD Feb)
Japan: 1,905,000 units (Famitsu)
Those "American" DS figures are off as we never got the Feb NPD totals. It also doesn't include Canada (which is typically 10% of US sales, usually more for Nintendo products actually).

its not like we really need it, unless you think that the DS sold 400K in Feb :P
Likely not, I'm guessing it's between 100-200k for Feb. Canadian totals through Feb are likely 150-250k. So guessing 150k US in Feb and 200k Canadian total (both being pretty reasonable figures) DS would be about 1.838M in North America through Februrary which is actually pretty far from 1.488M, especially when we're comparing to potentially 1M PSP units. Add in March and DS is likely past 2M in North America.
