GameShare and NDS/3DS games on Nintendo Switch 2

So that rumor about Nintendo Switch 2 using Switch 1 as a second screen for NDS/3DS games may be on point... Remember this thread from some months ago?

I tested the GameShare function of the Switch 2 using wife's Switch Lite on Fast Fusion and the latency was amazing, DF reported some lag or stuttering but I never experienced any.

Here's a X post doing a latency test using Super Mario Odyssey:

GameShare is actually using Wii U streaming tech, so only the Nintendo Switch 2 console sharing the game is the one running it and the other consoles are just receiving audio/video input wirelessly. Basically its original purpose was using it for double screen gameplay.

IDK if Nintendo will release a second screen for using on those games or if they will allow using one of those consoles as second screen, but it's funny that the most stupid and improbable rumor might end up being true lol.

What do you think fellow GAFfers? I think it would be amazing if they gave us choices: Get a screen accessory or use an actual Switch 1/2 as a second screen.

Would be amazing to get access to the whole NDS/3DS library on the Switch 2. For me that would be a great value-add. But seeing Nintys horrible tendency for drip feeding older titles and paywall it behind NSO I'm not sure I could stomach it.

You know that's what is gonna happen, I don't have any problem with it personally, I'm highly expecting DS games on Switch 2 online

It would be popular for sure, there's a shit ton of great games stuck on those systems.

But I think it's only a matter of time before makers of portable retro-devices will be offering dual-screen products, I'd be all over that.

I'm glad they are still using this tech in areas it can still be useful, like game sharing and DS games. Instead of SF Zero. It would be a waste to run away from it forever, for the one mistake of building the whole system around the feature.

I'm waiting for gamecube/GBA link functionality. Four swords adventures is great. I would like crystal chronicles too but square enix sucks(I would buy a proper remake).

They've definitely been keeping this up their sleeve for some reason

Some of the Pokémon games from that generation are hundreds of dollars. DS/3DS really needs to get thrown on the switch NSO already

And I'm waiting for GB Pokemon to be a thing alongside Pokemon Stadium. BTW I've played Four Swords Adventures with some mates and it was awesome with the NSO sub

I'm talking about the gamecube game, not the gba side game. Not a lot of people bought or even played it, so im not surprised people mistake the two. It required a whole host of accessories to play in multi-player.

This is already happening.

The Magicx Zero 40 is basically a gapless DS.

And with the Retroid Dual Screen Add-On, there's nothing preventing you from emulating 3DS in the best possible way.

Ohh, that dual-screen add-on slipped by me. Thanks for the heads up. But yeah, there's some offerings and crowd-funded stuff going on. I'm on a couple of e-mail lists for when they kick off.

Hoping for something a bit more ergonomic then the Magicx and foldable design. But seeing as all the retro machine producers have exhausted most niche handheld designs I would imagine that more DS offerings are in the pipelines. 🤞

I fully expect the switch 3 to have a dock that can receive wireless stream from the console. Reverse Wii U.
