Pure Pwnage: Teh Movie Official Trailer released

Glad some people in the form are looking forward to it! I guess I'm missing the nostalgia for this series or something because for that entire trailer I had this irrational urge to punch that guy in the face. (mostly kidding :P - but the acting was pure cringe).

Man has it really been like 4 years since the indie gogo? Well there it is. It's gonna be a fun ride and at the least a nostalgia trip to see the characters again. I'm curious to see if its gonna hold.up even for those of us that were huge fans back in the day.

I also have concerns its not gonna feature any of the old storyline or anything (teh masterer, etc) but I guess that's to be seen also.

Either way; ITS AUUUWWHN.

I watched a bit of it back in the day, but it was mostly just for fps doug. He was always hilarious.

This doesn't look as bad as i thought it would, expected much worse.

I couldn't get through the trailer. Looks like the new Noobz.
Lol no. PP is balls to the walls rooted in the e-sports community from 2003+ they know their shit and don't need to pretend to be gamer. Tho, the TV series was rather bad, let's see how this will turn out.

I just hope the humour has grown up along with the cast and fans. There's only so many times you can say "BOOM HEADSHOT"...

god this was so good..

Came in here expecting this, I am not leaving disappointed. Thank you.

seems like the characters are there but they dumped the matrix like storyline. from what they've shown so far it looks like theyre doing the movie the right way imo.

The original series was lightning in a bottle. They captured the peak of gaming culture and satirized it at the perfect time. This looks like they took the same formula and tried to apply it to league play. Everything about it feels like 2005.

Also, where is this wonderful girl?

pre-youtube era internet was a crazy place.

they also live in Toronto and I've met with the crew numerous times so there's that /bias

^ this is probably half the reason why I'm going. Grew up with the Web show and the TV show and have met the guys a few times since I'm from Toronto too

It's been so long. People that didn't grow up with PP or haven't heard from it won't like this. This is for the fans.

Yep, this is nostalgia driven to the core, PP was a 'you had to be there' kind of moment. I'm actually pretty excited by that trailer. The guys haven't missed a beat.

I haven't been the a real fan of the series or anything, but from what little I've seen, it absolutely had its moments. When he debates games vs. real life violence with some lady, and claims how only a total n00b could confuse the two, using strictly gaming tech terms to prove his point, really made me laugh.

IMO, show was before its time, but this move feels like its coming too late.

early 2000s PC gaming/forum/l33tspeak just doesn't hold up anymore in an age where esports/tournaments/streaming is so easily accessible. when pure pwnage was coming out there was no such thing as youtube, let alone twitch or streaming of video game tournaments. now we know first hand what real pro gamers look like, act like and talk like... and they ain't acting like teh_pwnerer.

also, the "angry gamer" schtick has become SO overdone thanks to youtube, so even though fps_doug was one of the pioneers of it all... his rage and destruction of equipment doesn't quite have the same impact anymore.

With all that in mind, I'm interested to see how they adapt the series and the characters to a modern day setting. The dudes behind this thing are legitimately hilarious people. I trust they'll do a great job.

I've been using a Pure Pwnage mouse pad signed by the guys for as long as I can remember (probably back from when the Web show was still happening). Time sure does fly haha

It's all about the HEADSHOTS man!

I'm still waiting for a follow up on the Azeem and Jamal? middle western C&C skit

This is exactly why I'm looking forward to it.

Honestly the biggest appeal to this whole thing is going to be for folks who were there when the original web series 'happened'. It really captured the landscape well and looking back I can definitely remember the era vividly.

Edit: I never did catch the TV show. I should look into that.

Saw the trailer this morning, been waiting a long time for this!

I remember getting into the series after the classic FPS_doug episode(I think that was episode 4) and have been hooked ever since. If you never were a fan you probably wont like this. Like others said, it was those "have to be there" things. Half life 2 was just coming out when the series started and so was CS Source. CnC Generals was also out so that was also a root of Jeremy's gameplay.

For those that may want to try the series out, the first episode is kind of shit. Try to watch the first 4, and if you're still not liking it, then you prob wont like it at all. My favorite episode was Lanageddon which is episode 8. Also, try not to take it seriously. The show is very self aware and silly on purpose. A lot of the shit that Jeremy says and does is cringeworthy, but thats the whole point. His personality and acting get a lot better later on in the series.

the best show in the world

can't wait for this movie

You know, I realized that this is basically like the Mr Show revival. With Bob and David just continues on where Mr. Show left off, as if nothing happened in the years between the last season of Mr Show and the first season of their new show and... well, you're either fine with that or you're not.

The mixed responses in the thread are basically a reflection of that.

man this brings back memories, although the whole ninja thing with magical powers was really fucking weird and out of place

replacing RTS with mobas is a commentary on the sad state of RTS games :/

It'd be kind of hilarious if he was still a Generals fan.

+1

the show is a mockumentary

what if a forum/game troll that talked a bunch of shit in leetspeak... was a real person who really speaks like that and could actually back up their shit talk? say hello to teh_pwnerer

HE WEARS A SHIRT THAT SAY I PWN N00BS

watching old clips on youtube and it really doesn't hold up today tbh
I didn't think it held up all that great when it first came out but maybe i wasn't the target demographic for it, it seemed like it was aimed more towards younger kids/preteens.

I'm sure the movie will please the fans it seems like it has a lot of fan service and i remember their indiegogo making like $200,000+ so people still want their pure pwnage.

I play League. I understood the jokes.

Horribly unfunny.
I'm pretty sure the jokes being shitty is the joke.

Got no idea of the series besides boom headshot gif, and I thought the trailer looked pretty alright. Assuming that they acknowledge the characters being older and the relationship between the two characters is handled well, could be alright.
