Pure White Color Nintendo DS

Ew, actually, I do not like the way that looks in "real life." Those glamour shots made this look nice but I think it translates into something really ugly if these images are to be believed.

I'll hold up for that blue DS and the graphite one.
 
The graphite one looks better.


I dunno if its the lighting there, but that doesn't look very "white" to me. It looks almost basically like the current gray/silver DS without the black buttons.

Indeed. Just look at the piece of paper in one of the photos. Plus I don't think it's actually pure white. More like that pearl white GBA SP.
 
Hah, those look great, however the black reminds me so much of Game Gear, not that that's entirely a bad thing. Neither color really has me regretting my platinum purchase though.

:lol I'll be in the same boat once the special game editions come out. If they do another Rockman.exe or Gundam release, I'm going to cry.
 
I was thinking of white, but the black looks blacker than I thought.
Black DS tomorrow? Maybe. (No games I want yet!)
 
are these DSes meant to be more expensive than the standard console? Its showing up as $190 USD on liksand + shipping. I guess they are really special editions
 
No, they're not supposed to be more expensive. If you check Nintendo Japan's site, they retail for 15,000 (tax incl.) just like the silver DS. Just your usual importers trying to take advantage of a NEW item and the gullible customers' excitement.
 
That black one looks so nice. If any of the games for the DS interested me apart from Mario DS, I would get the black one.
 
the black ones look pretty good along with the other two... but once you set it aside... and consider it on it's own, it's kinda ugly looking really. Very old school looking... like a game gear like someone else said.

I looked really good for GB, but i dont think it would suit DS for some reason.
 
How long until the NintenD00DS SP?

Considering I may end up buying one of these in the future to play GBA games, I'd like a little less of the fugly on it. I can deal with it looking cheap, that's par for the course with Nintendo.
 
I have a friend coming in from JPN on saturday and I was going to have him get me a white DS (for some reason I think of black as too standard). However the white = grey comments are worrying me somewhat. Has anyone actually seen the unit? If so, is it white like the glacier GBA model?
 
One thing that bugs me about Nintendo handhelds is the shitty paint job. Both my GBA and DS have rubbed through the platinum in a couple spots just by having them in my pocket on a couple ocassions. Paint should not rub off so easily!

My GBA SP paint job got fucking mauled from being in my pockets with other things constantly. One day I accidently put my keys in with it, and japed around unawares. I then took it out of my pocket, mouth agape in horror, and openly wept. Well... nearly.

My DS hasn't been anything like the same. I've kept the DS in pockets on it's own for the most part, or just in a pocket with a handful of DS cards, and the paint job is still perfect.

I do wish they'd put a shinier finish on the handhelds after seeing PSP though (which incidentally is libel to get wrecked just as much as a DS if you don't look after it or buy a case). High quality materials (even plastic ones) make all the difference.


I really like the black & white DS models :(
I may be tempted to offload my platinum one if and when these come out in the UK.
