I usually hate cover designs because they're almost always bland. The publisher probably gives the job to a design firm, or to a couple of people in-house. Those people make some cool shit, but then marketing comes in and "this is not gonna sell", "this does not suit our demographic", "our stats have shown"... and it becomes this uninspired "meh" of a cover. That's my theory

Don't get me wrong. I'm super-excited for this game. Loved Alan Wake, the mechanics of the game were simple but excellent and this seems to follow suit with nice fluid combat.

(EDIT) The first one has personality, but it's also by-the-numbers in terms of design. There's like zero flair to it. Their previous games have some kind of personality to them.
