Are you a quebecer? Because, seriously, even out west here where bashing of the East is commonplace (and make no mistake, an Albertan driven party will not be sympathetic to a seperatist cause, ever, no matter what strategic alliances they form in order to fuck up our federal government) some of these supposedly common place views of Quebec in the ROC are supposed to have sound nothing like the real way 'we' seem to view Quebec.

Maybe it was an ontario thing in particular, though. The ROTROC immediately jumped on the Liberals.

I still don't see why people are bitching about that. Sure it might make the wasted money even more wasted, but it still baffles me that many people are more angry at the whole federalist/quebec thing than the corruption thing, which is what's actually worrisome (and causing me a hell of a headache as to whom I will vote for in the upcoming election).

Nah, I'm 50 times more pissed at the corruption thing...I already said throw these cocksuckers out on their ear. I don't get why people think these idiots should continue to run the country all in the name of "stabilized government"...if the conservatives were in this position, there's no fucking way they'd be given that chance.

The problem doesn't have to do with the frenchness, more to do with people that want more power to the provinces
Buuuuullshat. It's mostly nationalism.

Anyway, not like even winning a referendum would mean independence. They'll have to continue bullying non-French out, homogenizing, before they get a large enough majority.

Nationalism != Frenchness.

Unless you actually believe what the seperatists on that matter, that is. But they're still wrong.

I wasn't replying to "Frenchness", since I don't even know what it's supposed to mean. But I believe that it's more about nationalism than "more power to the provinces".

Again, it depends who you ask in the separatist/independentist/autonomist movement. It's no more uniform than any political movement.

As I said, it's not exactly the same end. It's not quite as drastic, and it could probably* work.

*can't really say though.

As you said, "in the separatist/independentist/autonomist movement". That's what I'm referring to by "end".

I'm beginning to think you're just trying to complicate things for the hell of it. Fucking Quebecker. ;)

I'll end this petty debate by stating that there are certain members in their group that says that independance that they once sought is not possible. That certainly doesn't fit as the same end, does it?

I'm not a Quebecer, though I was born there, by the way.

Of course I'm complicating things. I hate the Black & White attitude of politics. I always complicate things. :(

Comments in this thread just proves that we're ready for separation. It'll be a big big yes on the voting poll for me when the time finally comes.

It's really weird to read this thread. From your reactions, I feel like I'm a dumbass just because I'm a Quebecois. So much generalization...

Anyway, separation won't happend anytime soon IMO. In 1995, the PQ leader (Bouchard) was pretty charimastic and they failed. Today, the PQ is fucked up and it has no leadership whatsoever. The Quebec city area is also more 'conservative' and federalist than it was 10 years ago.

It was just stolen that's all :)

That's just a lame excuse. Sure, Canada spent a lot of money. But there is not an idiot who decided to vote NO simply because he saw red and white flags everywhere.

Immigration Canada gave away 43 855 Quebec citizenships in 1995, an increase of 87% in 2 years.
In october of 1995, 11 429 quebec citizenships were given away wich was the first time that Quebec were given more citizenships than ontario and it never happened since then.
In 1996, it went down by 39%.
100 000 voters werent legally able to vote.

It's not just a coincidence my friend. And the NO camp won by about 50k votes.
