Obviously this doesn't really reflect badly on the Queen, but Edward VIII seems like a Nazi-loving shithead.

I believe he was already rounding up Jews at that point and he was obviously super racist. They wouldn't have given him the award if he didn't share the values of Time magazine and its readership.

Time's Person of the Year is who they consider the most influential person of that year, not who their favorite person is.

I actually remember doing this in the early-mid 80s in school during the pledge. It's possible I'm misremembering.. Anyone else? This would have been in a suburb of Atlanta.

Er, what kind of school did you attend lol?

<_<

The Bellamy Salute.

While American history is sometimes weird...that wasn't common at all during the 80s...something else was going on there

Wikipedia said:
In order to prevent further confusion or controversy, the United States Congress instituted the hand-over-the-heart gesture as the salute to be rendered by civilians during the Pledge of Allegiance in the United States, instead of the Bellamy salute. This was done when Congress amended the Flag Code on December 22, 1942.

If this had been a porn film, the Queen would have to step down from the throne.

Oh wait, only in America does someone have to leave their job when it's found out that decades ago they did a porn film...

Well obviously now internet justice must run its course. Take this train of belligerence straight to the queens front door!

Captain Darling: I'm as British as Queen Victoria!
Captain Blackadder: So your father's German, you're half German, and you married a German!?

who the fuck cares....really. Might as well blow up the fact that a lot of people were doing the nazi salute during that one olympic games in the 30's as well.

Least he didn't kill 6 million Jewish people at that point, right? He was a charismatic enough for the title.
He didn't need to be charismatic, he needed to have the biggest impact on the world that year.

I believe he was already rounding up Jews at that point and he was obviously super racist. They wouldn't have given him the award if he didn't share the values of Time magazine and its readership.
Must be quite diverse values if Stalin, Hitler and Churchill can win it in one war. Not giving him the title because he is a bad guy seems quite stupid.

On the film Princess Margaret says, “Oh la la la la la la,” as she sings and dances around.

Her mother says: “Oh look darlings, there she is!” referring to someone out of shot.

Prince Edward says: “Yes, yes, come on, come on, give her a wave.”

This is some serious fan fiction. Amazing how they can actually be worse than The Sun.

Immediately thought of that one episode of Always Sunny where Dennis and Dee discover that they went to a Nazi summer camp with their grandfather.

Now listen close, kids. These goddamn n***** and Jews are trying to take over this country, and we've got to take it back!..

This salute, given by Queen Elizabeth at the ripe old age of 7, is clearly evidence of her burning hatred for Jews.

I believe he was already rounding up Jews at that point and he was obviously super racist. They wouldn't have given him the award if he didn't share the values of Time magazine and its readership.

Time Magazine Man/Person of the year isn't meant to honor the person being selected. It's meant to signify the most influential/impactful person in the world in that year. In recent years they've shied away from that and made it an American/Western-safe (and relatively meaningless) choice so as not to offend people like you who misinterpret it.

To be fair, Time itself has been a meaningless magazine for at least the past decade if not longer.

So that is why the UK supported the Nazi's throughout the war. Luckily the US and Dominican Republic got our shit together and saved the world from Hitler and Nazi Princess Elizabeth.

The sad state of our news media today. Not one single outlet that I saw pointed out the difference between this occurring in 1933 versus 1943. Pathetic.

These outlets need a history lesson on what the world's perception of Hitler was like in '33.

Also UK royal family are German.
No they aren't. Sure they have German lineage, but how many other countries could you include there?

The UK royals even had their german name until 1917 before they were forced to change it to something british aka Windsor.
I happen to live in the german city where their old german title originates from and I can tell you that the UK royal family is seen at least half german / half english

There was a lot of supportof Hitler back then. Especially among the aristocrats.

Also UK royal family are German.
It's part of the reason both the Kaiser and Hitler didn't think that the UK would get involved in his shananigans in Eastern Europe.

Uhm. When they changed the name when they were at war with the Kaiser and after the war he was cast out, apart from the fact that the first World War had a phase of huge arms race between the Kaiserreich and the british.

And Hitler was was hoping that both the UK and France won't bother for Poland, not because of the bloodlines, but because they were avoiding conflict so far.

I didn't phrase this correctly. The Kaiser before WWI wasn't expecting a war with the UK despite tensions.
Hitler similarly assumed that the UK wouldn't get involved.
