Queen Elizabeth II has passed away

I've walked past THE QUEUE a couple of times in the last few days.

They're fucking nuts.

I don't have the time or the inclination to spend that long to shuffle past a coffin, but god bless them for their true British queuing spirit!

I've already lost faith in humanity, what's the coffin selfie count at so far?

I think it is more a "I was there" mentality than anything else. We in the US saw the same thing throughout our history. Whether it be Washington, Lincoln, or even Reagan.

Normal people feel the need to feel as if they have been at a pivotal point in history and/or pay their respects to an icon.

Grief tourism, saw the same thing with Diana back in the day. Now with added social media element.

No, but he must show strength and character.
He's been flying all around the UK on all sorts of "King" business, meeting and greeting us great unwashed, all the time probably counting down the hours forvthat brief respite so he can grieve properly and you don't think he's showing strength and character!?

The Sovereign Queen as Head of State and Head of the Church of England has always given the sense of great spiritual and practical consideration for my country.

While changes would be difficult and should be carefully considered it may be time to look at a ways of adapting a different process for Head of State as the country continues to advance empirically and the dogmatic aspects of the church continue to recede into irrelevance taking the church with it.

King Charles III coronation may provide some clarity.

Walked from Southbank Centre to Tate tonight, the queue is absolutely mental. Never seen anything like it in my life. And even if I appreciate the monarchy, I just can’t comprehend the motivation to freeze your ass for a day to see a box under a flag. For all we know I could be an Aussie Man and Van box and we’d be none the wiser.

Some poor folks starting to resemble zombies in THE QUEUE now. A couple of my friends got into it at some godawful time. I will be going down to see them and provide incredibly strong coffee at some point today.

Old Dave beckham queued (lined) for 12 hours bless him 👍🏻

I have a hard time believing that, more likely he joined the queue with one of his paid 'hanger ons' then skipped to go and do other things until they sent him a text saying they where near the entrance to Westminster Hall...and back he popped. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Nah that was phil and holly used their ‘press privileges’ to jump the queue.

Scum.

I know, it's John Lydon.

just weird you posted a johnny rotten image when nobody was talking about him.

not seen any proof of that. you might be right though but whatever. he spent more time queuing than they two cunts Phillip and Holly. no doubt they'll try laugh it off or offer a heartfelt apology to their viewers when they go back on air. they both can go take a fuck to themselves. another tv presenter, susanna reid could've probably got a pass like Phillip and Holly but she queued with her mum in the peasant queue.

they both think they are better and more important than everyone else. can't stand them.

Honestly that's fair enough as they are reporting for all the people that watch their show that can't queue up for hours.
Yet GMB presenter Susanna Reid managed to queue along with the public. So that argument doesn't hold up.

She just took the summer off, queuing for only 7 hours isn't a massive hardship when she gets to virtue signal about it and probably got paid as well.

Talking of John Lydon....

Classy, respectful statement from the old punk.

There was an interesting article today in The Times about the psychology of the queue. The article suggested it’s mostly about participating in a shared event, the story of eating pringles and sherbert lemons out in the cold, enduring a bit of hardship being a part of the gesture, rather than seeing the box for half a minute.

They should set up PA systems all along the route that constantly just play a never-ending loop of Jerusalem, and the theme to Dad's Army. People could pass by and give offerings to the queuers, of PG Tips tea bags and jammy dodgers.

If there is one wonderful thing thats been obvious during the last 10 days is the sheer miserable time that the sneering left wing Republican commentariat twats are having, as they come to realise, as if it wasn't already obvious, that the UK, and more specifically England, will never become a Republic (again) at least not in their hate filled little lifetimes :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Whenever they speak, They just come across as collective bunch of joyless, condescending cunts, sneering at the plebs for still wanting to keep a Monarchy in the 21st Century.

I would like to see how upbeat and happy they all are if it was pissing down.

I can't see myself waiting in line for so long just to see a box, which might be empty. I'm thinking her human body finally keeled over and her reptilian form is running around the underground tunnels of the vatican where all the kidnapped chi1dr3n are.

Jesus how did she get to the Vatican?

Anyway they are going to have to close the ‘line’ soon.

Fun fact: some have been saying that across the books and films, Bond has always served under Liz II. That's not technically true because while Casino Royale was published in 1953, the events of the novel take place in 1951 (Liz became Queen in '52) according to a side-character in Goldfinger.

If ever you wanted a perfect example of a narcissist here you go.

All this ‘my love’ shit… it’s really quite cringe.

One thing's for sure. If Harry and Meghan continue to dunk on the Royal Family, release their book etc after recent events, and especially after flying over to be with that same family, after refusing to see the Queen in her last hours, after her death, that'll be it for them. Only hardened fanatics will stand by their side.

In the meantime, I'm watching the state funeral. It's another example of Royal tradition at it's very best. I'm not a massive fan of our monarchy, but fuck me when there are big royal events, it's massively impressive.

I guess it’s the same guy who refused to take a call from his own mother the night she died.

I can’t see anyone taking Harry and Megan seriously anymore.

Like too many they’ve been made to feel they can’t embrace The Monarchy or that it’s “wrong”. What we’ve seen over the last 10 days is that it’s an institution envied the world over and one we as British citizens should be incredibly proud and protective of.

Today once again The United Kingdom is truly United and at the centre of the world.

I know three people who queued to see the queen lying in state. Pretty strange. They all said they wanted to be part of history.
