...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
Well, a friend of mine has secured a copy of the master copy and I'm gonna' go to his place later tonight to check it out. I'm not gonna' drop names or anything, but he works for a certain record label and really, really big audio-engineering company. I'm pretty excited, I didn't ask him if he had the DVD also, but whatever. I'm stoked. I'll report back with impressions. A few months ago, I thought QOTSA was pretty much over since Nick left.

Oooo giddy giddy.

Edit: Actually, I'm gonna' be hearing this in his studio, not apartment.

I heard on the radio today that the new Foo Fighters album will be 2 disc (one normal, one acoustic), with Norah Jones collaborating on at least one song. Anyone know when that's supposed to come out?

It's true. And it's supposed to be out this Summer. The first part of the CD is already complete and mastered. Now they're mastering the acoustic stuff.

please, brag a little more.

I knew I'd get a smart ass remark from you. But I had no choice but to be detailed and precise. Because seeing as how the amount of BS-bans here increase daily, I didn't want someone to suspect that I'm DLing a leak and then get hit with a ban like someone else did last week regarding 50 Cent's leak.

Anyways, I just got back from the studio. There was a number of people there, a few were actually journalists, others were co-workers of his who were also fans. We all had copies of the master CD given to us and I enjoyed listening to it again on the drive back home. Based on my first two listens, I thought the CD was fucking incredible.

Well, I've listened to this a total of 4 times. I absolutely love it. What a terrific follow up to '...Deaf...'. It's got the same under-produced tone to it and you feel as if you're listening to the best damn garage band in the world. There are flats, there is some hissing and the entire CD doesn't at all sound as if it were extensively recorded, re-recorded, edited and filtered all to hell. Every song does justice to the title of this record, and yet every song will make you feel something. My favorites have to be: "Medication", "Everybody Knows That You're Insane", "Tangled Up In Plaid", "Someone's In The Wolf", and "The Blood Is Love". Those are tracks are the hardest/edgiest tracks on the record, so to me, they stand out. But the entire record is downright awesome.

Also, I should point out that after listening to the leak (I didn't want to rip the CD and tag every song), the leak doesn't have bass as precise as the master and leads me to believe that it may be a slightly older set of tracks. Also, some of the vocals on the master sound a little too errmm, I dunno..."trebled", I guess. Regardless, fantastic all around record. Can't wait to pick this up when it actually hits -- QOTSA deserves every one of my pennies.

Don't worry, she doesn't sing as far as I know. I remember hearing that she'll be playing the piano and... some other weird instrument I haven't heard of. And I think it's only for one song.

They also mentioned another person collaberating on a song, but I forgot who it was.

I'm waiting for the release because I like QOTSA, however their latest has been leaked and has been available for download for quite some time now.

Norah Jones and Foo Fighters? News to me.
Hopefully their latest will live up to their first three releases (self-titled, Colour and the Shape and There is Nothing Left to Lose). I didn't like One By One as much for some reason.

I hope at least one of the tracks on the new album will be as great as "Regular John", but I really doubit it. The melody on that song is incredible.

The worst thing about One By One was the production. The songs were okay, but the production totally ruined them. If you listen to TINLTL and 1X1 back to back, it's such a shockingly harsh contrast.

and yet, with the exception of "Learn To Fly", radio seemed to ignore the album. Interesting.

"Ain't It The Life" is one of the absolute best FF songs. What a damn good song.

Yes, but come on, I expected Learn to Fly and the silly video that came with it to come from, I dunno, Matchbox 20 or Three Doors Down, not the Foo Fighters.

Whaaaat? TINLTL is not very "radio friendly" outside of its singles. They had to sell out a little bit, it's damn near impossible for any band that started out in the early/mid 90's to survive in the current trainwreck that is the "modern rock" music scene. Even if it is radio friendly, it's damn good. Ain't it the Life, Aurora, and Stacked Actors are among their best songs. One by One just strikes me as being more on the bland side (not BLAND, but more on the bland side). It's FF's Machina. Error is right, the production is kind of crappy. I thought my speakers blew out the first couple times I heard it. :D :D

The funny thing is, I like the Foo's albums in the order they came out. Their self-titled is the best thing they ever did IMO (and one of my favorite albums ever - dare I say it was better than Grohl's previous band, Nirvana), with The Colour and the Shape coming in at a close second and TINLTL at a somewhat distant third.

Time ta STEP IT UP
I have the Lullabies to Paralyze album, my friend gave it to me.

My friends, it's fucking AMAZING. Probably their best work ever.

Probably my Album of the year too.

Listen to "I never came", Everybody Knows That You're Insane, or "Burn the Witch" and tell me this isn't the best shit ever, damn!

Solid album, I'm glad QOTSA are still keeping things fresh.

Also, it keeps with the QOTSA trend as being great music to get stoned to, as I am doing so now.

One By One rocked. All Foo Fighters albums rock the same ammount.

No, I was unable to appreciate One by One at all, altough I really loved the first two Foo Fighters albums. I will give them a chance with the next tough, that is for sure.

Was One By One their last one? I like it the least out of all of them. However, even the 'Foo's worst album still manages shit all over any rock album release in recent history.

How late are you? This thing has been around for weeks.

It's extremely lackluster. "Everybody Knows That You're Insane" is alright I guess.... "Long Slow Goodbye" is a nice little ditty.

Not too late. The leak isn't the mastered version.

The album is free to listen to on NME.com. So far, pretty boring to me. Beck's Guero is also available for listen, and although it's a better record, it's not as good as I'm used to from Beck, I think.

Everybody Knows That You're Insane, Little Sister & I Never Came are the standout tracks to my ear. Still getting into the album though, so that may change with further listening.
