Query: Is there technology that will alert me when a site is updated?

Yeah, I'm wondering if there's a program that's capable of alerting you when a site is updated. Similar to how MSN and Google have programs that will let you know when you get email, although I imagine that's a lot more simple.

I was thinking of RSS. That's only for sites that provide RSS feeds, though, correct (I don't know much about it)? I would mainly want to use this for gaming companies' Japanese websites.

I already refresh a lot of websites frequently throughout the day. If I had a program like this, I wouldn't have to.
