Boogie said:Right. "Christian" isn't an ethnicity.
If you call Christians idiots, deluded sheep,Hypocrites, The Great Unwashed, Suckers, etc, then you're not a Christian.
levious said:It doesn't take much for some people to declare you un-christian. I remember one thread some dude started talking about how he was shocked that his christian female friend would wear a thong, then posted a picture zoomed in on her ass in the topic.

You don't really need to act like Christ to be a Christian. According to my Lutheran education, once you've been baptised and confirmed you're home free.
That's not to say that the church doesn't emplore you on a daily basis to behave like Christ. Anybody who goes to church gets that message drilled home every Sunday. I guess that's what led me to eventually part with organized religion. I couldn't believe that so many people heard the message but so few listened.

EviLore said:This sort of viewpoint is pretty archaic. By that definition I'm both a christian and a jew (but wait, I'm an atheist!). Religion is a matter of what you believe in, not what involuntary ceremonies your body underwent at birth.
Going to church is optional; is being baptized as an infant optional as well?Instigator said:It's not a viewpoint, it's a fact.
Baptized, went through the first communion and confirmation. Going to church is optional, especially with no peer pressure to attend. I'm not flaunting the involuntary ceremonies I went through as some sort of desperate attempt to prove my faith, it's just the way it is. It also means I can marry within the church and have my children go through the same process I did, simply because on paper, I am one of them.
Other denominations and free-thinking individuals may disagree with this, but their opinion is not any more relevant. And yes, that includes Boogie's and yours.

teruterubozu said:Christians are generally tourists - they believe they come from Heaven/God, spend some material time on earth, then leave and go back up to Heaven. Earth is just a temporary "stop" where you eat, shit, sleep, pray and get good grades to go to Heaven. No wonder Western Civilization is destroying the planet! They think it's just a rest stop.

Maybe you guys all have had bad experiences with people pushing their beliefs on you or whatever, I'm not really sure. To attack a very broad and large group of people simply because you think they are stupid etc etc is equivalent with saying "all muslims are terrorists." Yet that sort of speech is frowned upon while hatred for Christians is very hip and cool.
As an agnostic, the religion bashing on this forum is seriously off-putting and I can't understand how so many hateful people converged into one place.

You know, that argument tires me. Look. You want to put yourself into a house called "Christianity". Fine. There's this guy that is a mega-douche who happens to be a public face of said house and member thereof. If you don't like his representation of your house, either you move out or kick his ass out. Otherwise it's a valid criticism.sans_pants said:therefore all christians are the same

You're right - it is a moderated forum. And if you think that believing in God somehow makes one a more acceptable target...you're wrong.Instigator said:Keep in mind, this is a moderated forum so I am not asking for vulgarity.![]()
Instigator said:And your religious beliefs do not define who I am or anyone else.
And yet you felt the need to barge in, state what makes someone a Chrisitan/Jew and yet, it was all about yourself and only concerns yourself.
THE FINAL SEQUEL.
