Questions about " USB 2.0 Flash Drives"...

Anyone of you got the usb 2.0 flash drives? I'm thinking about buying one but wasn't sure if it's any good.

After i download whatever contents to my hard drive i'm sick of transfering my files to CD-RW disc and asking me these stupid questions. Do you want this cd to read in CD-rom format, cd-rw format, blah, blah, blah, blah...etc. I want something done and instant.

I can't decide which one to choose (128MB or 256 MB ) ?
My stores in my area sell these for a low price. USB 2.0 128 MB ( $30 ) or USB 2.0 256 MB ( $50 )

Questions:

1. which brands do you guys use?
2. how long do flash drives last? (Durability)
3. Is it worth it?

Thanks a bunch for replying.

they call me "Man Gravy".
USB Flash drives are the things that make floppy disks obsolete (seriously, most high-end laptops don't have floppies anymore). No reason not to get one. You can find them online at discount stores for really cheap, so I'd go that route if you're interested (check www.hot-deals.org or www.fatwallet.com for info).

i just bought a 512 USB 2.0 flash drive for $50 from Fry's. It is pretty handy. I used to burn things that I didn't want to put on my website to download later.

The thing is very fast too.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
I have over 2GB of these. I use the Sandisk Cruzer minis. They're all USB 2.0. They rock.

They're incredibly handy, especially if you're into taking work home like me:(
Don't worry about brand names, they're all the same on the inside.

1. Lexar, EagleTec, & ScanDisk. I'm not really in the know, but AFAIK brand really doesn't matter. My family uses a bunch of Chinese knock-off ones too and they work just as well as the name-brand stuff.

2. They seem very durable. I've had one of those Chinese flash drives on my keychain sans cap for about a year now and haven't had a problem.

3. Yes. Especially for transfering large files between home and work. They transfer faster than I can burn most CDs. I've only had one time that I can remember that I wasn't able to transfer a file because someone didn't have USB support (and their computer did have the ports, but the Win98 support was sketchy).
