Qdoba is just a really, really poor man's Chipotle.

And Chipotle is a poor mans real mexican.

If you want GOOD fast food mexican, only Baja Fresh fits the bill. Del Taco with their tacos del carbon are a good substitute.

And Chipotle is an extremely poor imitation of a real Mexican taqueria.

edit: beaten. There are two Mex restaurants that serve the genuine stuff and they destroy Chipotle and all these other bogus "Tex/Mex" chains some of you swear by. There's a Chipotle right across from my workplace and I just walk further distances to the better/real Mex food places in the area.

Those two Mex restaurants are just a poor version of these real Mexican restaurants I know in Guadalajara.

You're just fooling yourself by going to those Americanized immitations and you're an idiot for even enjoying them I hate you.

I see you're trying to be "funny," but I'll give you a normal reply anyway. It hardly matters if they're not as good as some restaurant thousands of miles away in the heart of Mexico. When the local places are run and staffed by Spanish-speaking Mexicans, then the food qualifies as genuine, whether good or bad. The places I've been to just happen to serve really good food and they're very near places like Chipotle, which serve food that is comparatively much worse. :)

People don't like taking chances so they stick to eating familiar, bland food.

I would love to come hang with you guys and shoot the breeze and eat "real" Mexican or even "Tex-Mex' foods. But since i live on the east coast and those are not options I will eat my Chipotle and Qdoba and live vicariously through you

yeah but the thing is no "real" Mexican place has burritos the size of Chipotle for that price. So, why you're enjoying your slightly better Mexican food (besides the meat there's only so many ways to cook beans and rice that they put in burritos...) I'll be enjoying some delicious and always filling Chipotle

yeah baja fresh annihilates crapotle.

I was so disappointed in the size of chipotle's burritos. Baja Fresh's burritos are about twice the size for the same price.

<3 Qdoba & Chipotle. They don't compare to Moe's, but there aren't any of those here in Chicago so you do what you can.

Don't worry they obviously live in California, where it's full of authentic Mex restaurants, but they didn't tell you sometimes the authentic ones taste like crap.

I've actually grown fond of a place that just opened in my area called Boloco. It's owned by the guy who founded Chipotle. :D They have amazing burritos.

Meh, or not... I'd take Chipotle any day of the week over Baja Fresh. Maybe it was just the locations I've gone to, but Chipotle's burritos were always bigger than Baja Fresh's. The only thing I'll give Baja the edge on is drink size.

Moe's is awful. I am at a loss how a restaurant chain can consistently serve stale chips at every single location, but Moe's manages to pull it off. It's almost impressive.

I grew up in Southern California (San Diego and LA). And I grew up on "real" Mexican.

That said, I still stop in for Chipotle every now and then. They are tasty.

You know, when I go to Chipotle or Qdoba, I'm not really looking for an authentic mexican food experience. I'm just looking for some fuckin good food. I'd kindly ask the elitists to fuck off and let me have my chicken queso burrito.

Used to be called The Wrap. There's a few of them in Boston, and one on campus at Northeastern that I used to go to. It's good, but a little expensive given the size and the fact there's a Qdoba basically next door, lol.

Though I'm pretty sure the guys who opened it aren't the same as the Chipotle people. Or do you mean your particular store is owned by the same guy?

The chips at Moe's are amazing. I have no clue what you're talking about.

NEWS FLASH: Nobody gives a shit about "real" or "authentic" Mexican food. They just want something that tastes good and is filling.

The fact that people are judging these places based on the size of their burritos (rather than say texture, flavor, ingredients) should probably be a clue.

I'm talking about stale tortilla chips. I felt I was pretty clear.

For further reference, Chipotle serves fresh tasty chips.

Not in my experience. I've had stale and even chewy chips at Chipotle. The chips at Moe's are fine and free with the burrito.

Moe's chip quality has gone down the shitter over the last few years. Back when they used those multi-color chips they tasted amazing. Now they are just horrid chunks of corn something.

The places I eat at have bigger or similar-sized burritos to Chipotle's, which are BLAND crap that's been sitting out. I also pay less than Chipotle's prices.

I know some of you think it's "elitist," but the difference is nearly like eating a finely grilled burger vs. the typical hamburger at McD's. I've eaten at several Chipotle's. It's filling and OK if you don't know better, but I cannot stress enough how mushy and bland the food is compared to a good burrito at a taqeuria.

Qdoba is decent, Id rather have Tumbleweed although i know thats even more americanized

never had Chipotle as we don't have them in Louisville

Personal opinion, but anyone who claims Chipotle is "bland" has clearly destroyed their taste buds after years of abuse.
