'RACE Pro' (X360) Announced

I sure would like to know if they plan to eventually make a PS3 version 'cause i would wait for it instead of buying a 360 for this game.

You should buy a 360 regardless. That's just a given. :)
Especially considering now that it's $299 with reliable hardware.

Well, it's not a real arcade racer, but it's pretty arcady. Call it an arcady racer with a few simlike elements.

What about it is "arcady"? Before anyone gets worried about this question potentially derailing the thread, I only ask it because I don't think he can answer it. :)

I'm not very technically savvy about this stuff, but that Logitech PR about "device-based ffb" vs "host-based ffb" just sounds like a round-a-bout way of saying 'MS won't accept our drivers and you're shit out of luck until they do'. I have my doubts any kind of dongle could solve something like that. Either the "host" is speaking the peripherals language or it isn't.

I don't get it, has MS really made that much of a killing with their own wheel, is it on "principal", what? At the very least I find it hard to believe being proprietary wankers enabled enough profit to justify the potential losses on game sales as a byproduct. In other words enthusiasts who are reluctant to buy a sim like this or Forza without proper wheel support.

I can't comment on the first statement, as I have no knowledge of that stuff, but you could be right.

Your second comment I agree with and wonder as well. It's not only the potential loss on game sales, but potential loss of console sales. It's like if Nintendo wanted to release the Wii controller on the 360, there were some 360 games that would benefit from it, and Microsoft said, "No". And then come out with their own half-assed peripheral (the MS wheel has some redeeming features, but in my eyes a whole lot of issues too).

That is to say, the lack of Logitech wheel support hurts the entire console, and makes it an inferior console when it comes to racers.

Well, it's not really my definition of an investment. I wish i wouldn't have to buy both the 360 and the PS3. As a matter of fact, my PS3 and my Wii really are covering the bases except for sim racers. Now the 360 is having Forza and Race Pro but damn, you can't buy a console for 2 games. There's no real exclusive i need on 360 outside of that so the price tag is pretty huge.
Also, the hardware doesn't RROD anymore but it still bears a fucking cheap DVD drive.

They really got the dirty racing track feeling right, with all the dusty walls.

Wow, those images are AMAZING.

...Because the game looked nothing like that. On top of sucking really bad. And feeling extremely slow. Seriously, the sense of speed was non-existent.

So it doesn't look like that, can't wait to release.

So you dont play many sim racing games... Thanks for the input.

No shitty blur in gameplay confirmed? AWESOME!

Looking at that video it looks like they've "streamlined it" and removed things like fuel loads, pit lanes, and drive through penalties (and who knows what else) from Race 07.

I'm not saying the console audience is dumb, just that developers/publishers REALLY seem to think so.

I'll say it, they are.

Its a demo, what makes you think this will be true for the final game?

If its true, screw that noise its probably 30fps too.

Will GTR Evolution be running the Lizard engine?

You said the same about Enthusia a few E3's back. You know nothing about a proper driving model. You can't even say anything specific about the way car's handled.

Doesn't appear to be any pit lanes on the track, the way he explained getting warnings and didn't mention anything about drive through penalties, no fuel indicator on the HUD. The screen is cut off a bit, but even so, not really enough that it would hide any significant UI elements.

However, in the pause menu there's still a race monitor and drivers/timing, which wouldn't really be all that useful without qualifying sessions and things of that sort.

And no, GTR Evolution won't have a new engine, so far as I know.

Really? That's a surprise, because Enthusia sucked.

Additionally, the damage model in this game is terrible too. Crash going 120MPH and all you get is a dent. Want to destroy your car? Can't do it.

As far as how the cars handled...it was alright, I guess. I didn't really feel like they were very planted to the ground. The brake feel and acceleration was unusually disconnected, though.

You guys can get excited all you want for this game, but this is seriously nothing like what's out there for the PC.

And to the guy who said I must not play many sim racers, major LOLLERZ to that, sir.

maybe it was because it was being played 3rd person and the guy playing couldn't play for shit but that video looked quite bad

Dont mind Alpha, last I recall he still claims Gran Turismo as the greatest sim and he drives in 3rd person view. He also drives with automatic for fucks sake.

:lol

Ah goodness.

:lol :lol :lol :lol

Anyway, the PC version of Race '07 is a very good looking game, and has all the rules, etc that a true sim should have. It's one of the games I'm truly looking forward to playing soon. The FFB is supposed to be amongst the best there is, up there with netkar and LFS. I can't wait to jump in the F3000s. Macau = <3

i think it looks good however somewhat flat... the wheels are too flat and look low poly

also there is a bit too much jaggy... hopefull it'll be cleaned up

:lol Anyone trolling the mechanics behind a SimBin game or it's gameplay has no idea what they're talking about.

I wonder when they are planning to include the tyres and the non-floating-car physics ?

That second to last beamer looks like it flies :0

I know you can't judge a game based on a few videos, but kind of underwhelmed here. I expected realism. I know they can't have real life damage, but at least make the car go slower after crashes. No developer can have excuses for that. All i want is performance damage, screw the visual representation of it... and they "seem" very forgiving on the mechanichal damage aspect. Also, i saw a guy cutting some chicanes and not getting a drive through penalty... the developer only said: "if you do it too much you're disqualified" WTF, why not like in real life? First is a drive through, second you're done (if you do it on purpose and on dangerous spots.

46 cars, 15 tracks, kind of low. I don't know what to say before i play, but a little disapponted here :(

I was just going back to watch the E3 gameplay video on Gametrailers, and it's removed. I guess some people at Atari didn't like the awful driving.

Even Forza 2 has pit lanes and damage modeling.

Why would they nerf the game to make it dumber than Forza 2?
I wish that a sim would just give me the ability to tweak downforce and fuel load in the pit's, and even select starting fuel because i'm a little tired now of a 2 lap race with a full tank of fuel, hell the game should charge you for fuel refills and spare tires used at the end of a race.

I know that race on pc has some of that but why can't any console racer :(

I think race pro is going to disapoint a fair bit, people know the game as a sim yet for us console players we get stuff removed so the only thing we can do is race without fears of pit stops and probably components breaking like gearbox and engine blowouts. :/
