Raiden III trailer at Gamespot

http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/raideniii/media.html

Looks pretty cool (comes out next week in JP), but I assume there is no chance of a US release (my PS2 isn't modded to play imports unfortunately)

EDIT:

Couple of pics

looking good. any japanese readers want to take a crack at this interview i found linked at the shmups forum? http://www.mossjp.co.jp/raiden/ps2/ps2inte_01.html

first response apparently says that the port won't run at 30fps. which is good enough for me.

edit: there's no reason to expect an xbox port, but moss have announced a shooter in development for xbox 360, which i'd expect to be some version of raiden III.

I sure hope it comes out in the US. It's not as though Raiden is a totally obscure name here--there were Raiden and Raiden II conversions for several systems in the US. The first game was released on at least seven different platforms here (Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, Super NES, Jaguar, Lynx, PlayStation, and PC); the second made it to at least two (PlayStation and PC).

R-Type Final and Gradius V made it out here, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for a US release of the PS2 version of Raiden III!

I want an Xbox360 port of Raiden III, simply because the arcade Raiden III uses an ATI GPU and porting to Xbox360 makes the most sense as far as achieving an identical port.

Yeah, we can always hope, although SCEA is notoriously tough on 2d games (Gradius and R-Type have 3d elements, this doesn't appear to)

EDIT: Disregard, this Raiden has plenty of 3d

Raiden III is 3d judging from those screens ^^;

This looks ok. Doesn't look like anything like Raiden other than the power up system. Raiden's game play fields pan from left to right across huge areas and there are hardly any bullet patterns. This just looks kinda generic.

I might import on principle but... I definitely need more impressions as the gameplay in Raiden DX looks substantially different and that game is MY game. I love that shit.

if anyone cares, i've read impressons of...an advance copy, and apparently it runs at 60fps in tate mode. preorder away; i have.
