Rare + Microsoft planning to unveil MULTIPLE new projects (Update on Twisted Pixel)

If it's not the original guys, then I don't really care. Those pre-Xbox Rare teams are what made Rare what I loved.

What? You know that Nuts & Bolts and Viva Pinata were made by the same teams that made the games you loved pre-Xbox, right?

A lot of people have left Rare since 2008, but there are still some veterans left btw.

Yep, Ken Lobb on TiC podcast said it but also that they were thinking about Perfect Dark and possibly having it as a more story focused thing (I can't remember exactly what he said). If we get PD2 it will certainly not be a multiplayer FPS, it will have a single player/campaign/narrative focus a think. Deus Ex x Splinter Cell perhaps

I'll keep on this till it happens.

Perfect Dark 2 as a PD Skin of the Samaritan Demo. That setting for Perfect Dark would be amazing. Rare are already into UE4 and that demo done in 3 I believe.

Well you know that if they go acknowledging projects like KI the whole MS killing Rare IP's "argument" goes down the drain. Can't have that now can we?

To be fair it is a bit more complicated than that. MS did completely fuck up RARE for a solid ten years with micromanagement which led to games being made that were not what fans wanted. MS then used the poor sales of those games to force RARE into doing dumbshit projects like avatars and kinect sports mini games. KI was unique in that a lot of good people (especially Lobb and Spencer) fought for it and DH put in the effort to make it great. Around the same time the people that fucked over RARE were being fired from MS and now the same people that helped get KI out are in charge and are (hopefully) letting RARE have the creative freedom and work environment they need to start making awesome games again.

How do you feel about the new Killer Instinct and Donkey Kong Country games?

Lets not forget KS1/2 sold 9m units so it isn't like their Kinect thing did work out very well for Rare and Microsoft, avatars were also wildly successful. But they did that to reposition themselves and now when Kinect isn't going anywhere, they will do so again, if they bring back their older IPs and it doesn't work, I would bet 100% they go and do a new AAA IP thats all cinematic and grey and shit.

I really want perfect dark 2. I thought PDZ was a great online game with poor matchmaking. I put over a thousand hours into it and it still does a lot of things better than most shooters imo

I too loved PDZ's multiplayer and put hundreds and hundreds of hours into it. Never had an issue with matchmaking though.

Would love a new Perfect Dark but I think they confirmed one wasn't in development but they'd like to revisit it at some point.

The netcode is still some of the best of this or the last generation. I wonder who was behind it and what are they doing now?

Mark Edmonds is credited as the guy behind the networking in PDZ.

He's currently at Starfire Studios Ltd. They released Fusion Genesis in 2011. Not sure what they've done since then though.

Fusion Genesis was really cool and MS treated it really poorly; delayed a patch for a long time, discontinued the mobile app, other stuff. :(

Hero Klungo sssaveesss teh world on Xbox One & Windows 10

It would be really awesome !
Steve Malpass, the guy behind the minigame in N&B, is currently tending to the hub world in Fable Legends. Maybe after he's done with Brightlodge? :)

kind of sucks if there making Banjo Kazooie 3 when half the team that made the original two great is off at some other company making a similar game.
You guys were saying the exact same things when the platonic guys were at Rare! Its bullshit. Yes people have left but the father of Banjo is at Rare and there's no reason why Rare can't produce more talent, as they already have with Steve Burke, who is now at Playtonic, but created an exceptional score for Kameo, his first Rare game.
