That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Looks great... left hand looks a little akward... can't tell if it's supposed to be planted on the ground, but that wouldn't make much sense. Shoes look a little flat.

What's the use of miniskirt if you're looking at it from above? :S

Do not like the hair too much but overall, it's preety nice.

Coloring is nice, but the boobs are weird.

Her left shoe is a bit off, as well. It would look better if about half as much shoe were peeking out from under the skirt.

Nice drawing. Color uses are adequet, and strong use of perspective in her composition is also very intriguing. I'd say the lines - mostly same thickness is somewhat bothersome. Perspective usage of the line - stronger in foreground, weaker in background would make things even better. Also, she might want to take a look at some of the line-drawings in manga style and how the thickness varies for different places. Otherwise, she's got lots of things down quite good, I'd say. :)

The foreshortening gets kind of wonky when it comes to the arms and legs, and sort of kills the 3d effect as a result. Coloring on the figure is nice though. Drawing a full-sized thigh in place of that little leg would make the picture look 10x better.

No two snowflakes are the same, right? Well...All of those are the same :p I think they're too defined. A couple with some definition would be cool, but I think most of them would be just dots, unless the desert has some huge ass snowflakes. The feet/shoes need a lot of work, and the facial anatomy seems off even for an anime styled picture. I wouldn't EVER reccomend a phoographic/PS filter background for anything except a manipulation. She should probably paint her own background, or at least put the current one in perspective. The hands could use some help, too. Reference would be amazingly beneficial for the anatomy. I realize she's going for the cel-shaded look, but the light source is still all over the place, and there's minimal contrast.

www.eatpoo.com has some amazing forums, but I reccomend she lurk for awhile and pick up some advice from the guys/gals there. If she posts, the thread will probably be really harsh, but constructive, criticism. Sorry if I sounded like an ass, but I hand around art forums a lot. I didn't intend to sound mean, just constructive.

Criticize mode: salad fingers (left hand) & Left shoe = Looks like she got cursed with a black dick according to me. <------(no pun-intended)

Nevertheless, the drawing looks great! :D

I glanced at the topic and thought this was an olimario topic. :(

I think it is a good drawing, although her left foot does look a little strange. More of the leg should be showing, or the foot should be bent or something, I'm not sure what it is.

will buying Manga helps her improving ?

and where can I buy Manga from ?

thanks again ..

NOOOOOOOO! Anime influence is fine, but DO NOT LEARN FROM SOMEONE ELSE'S DRAWINGS. Draw from life, then stylize it. By copying others' drawings, you're copying their mistakes.

I love the sense of astonishment and wonder that the drawing conveys. It's snowing! Sort of makes me feel like a kid again. Perhaps an even more "open" posture e.g. palms upwards, head tilted back just a bit more would have emphasized the impression.

A good start. Always remember that the most important thing is not the "realism" of a picture or the details, but the overall impression it leaves the viewer!

Left hand reminds me of Great Cthulhu, shoes blow ass.

In sunken R'lyeh, Greath Cthulhu lies sleeping. I worship him in hopes that I die first.

Buy the girl some manga. But don't encourage her to copy their style, or decide TO MAKE A FUCKING ANIME INSPIRED WEB COMIC.

Buy her Love Hina. Girls eat that stuff up. I suppose by that token, I'm a girly girl.

Keep her away from the manga. If she really wants to improve upon her manga/anime style drawings, the one thing I would suggest is taking a little break from that style and learn basic figure and gesture drawing.

I'm not suggesting that manga/anime style drawing is bad, because it isn't. Hell, I always say to draw what you like not what you dislike. However, I can tell from this particular piece as well as some others on her site, that she can vastly improve if she starts to do some life drawings. What this will do is help with any difficulties she's having in drawing body parts in a more proper angle (the left foot and leg in this pic) and make it much easier to construct those parts (feet and left hand in this pic).

A good place to start is by visiting http://www.portrait-artist.org
Another would be to check out any of Andrew Loomis' figure drawing books.

Your girlfriend is talented and very creative. If she can take that talent and creativity and apply that with lessons learned from some referenced drawing, I'm certain her manga art will look a whole lot better.

Oh, and have her post some art in the art thread. It could certainly use some new blood.

*goes to Deviantart and drills this into the heads of every moron teenage girl that infests said site*

Anyway, shoes are bad, breasts are...pointy, everything else is fine, although I don't dig the sorta bland character design

The breasts are pointy, but that doesn't really bother me. It just me think that this girl stuffs her bra like I'm sure many school girls have. :p

It's not bad...it's just that EVERYONE does fucking anime these days and I can't stand it. There. It's been said.

It's a damn waste of time for anyone not Korean or Japanese to draw that way.

In the even your GF is one of those, I shall remove the cock from my mouth

While her drawing does need little refinements here and there, her coloring technique is very sharp. Nice crisp colors. Looks nice.

Buying more manga isn't the answer, exposing her to art books and learing other styles is. Along with human anatomy. This can't be stressed enough. Drawing in the manga style may be all well and good, learning more than one way to do things is hey ideal way.

Expose her to anatomy, composition and lighting books. And ALWAYS have reference materials around, be it a small wooden posing manequin (Spelling BOTCHED), or pose books.

The first drawing, from an overall standpoint, is much more solid. Nice use of perspective.

Only advice I can give is PRACTICE, PRATICE, PRACTICE.

This one's a lot better, but she should still paint her own background. (the sky is nice, but is she floating?) The area that bothers me a lot on this one is the chest. The fabric is drawn so it's tight across the chest, but you can see the outline of the breasts. The breasts also seem low to me. Because of that, the torso seems longs. Lighting is off here, too. The right side of her face is darker, but the right side of the torso is glowing. The wrinkles are really defined and they don't cast any shadow on the fabric, so they look like veins.

Overall, I think it looks really nice. Definitely a lot of potential, and keep working at it. I'd reccomend getting involved with an art forum. www.polykarbon.com has one that's about her skill level. Thanks for posting the work and I hope to see more.

Breasts are too low on her body in the second one. The first one is pretty neat, perspective-wise. Like someone said, her left hand looks a bit off, and I personally don't like the cone-ish boobehs.

The shoes aren't very good at all... and what's with the salad fingers on the left hand?

Other than that, nice.

IAWTP.

And the sentiments for more tentacles, too
