Raver GAF. Assemble!

what do you dance to?
Where do you dance?
How are you finding the terror of lockdown?
Post your 3 favourite CHOONS!

1. I'm 49 (!) so came to raving a bit later. My wife took me to a rave about 14 years ago against my wishes. A life changing moment, I've been hardcore ever since. Love my TRANCE, but have grown really fond of some dirty tech house over last few years.
2. Like my dirty, filthy Shoreditch joints in London. Basing House, Night Tales, EGG.
3. Fucking hating it. At my grand old age, I was thinking of retiring, but lockdown has made me realised how much I love it. I'll stop when I'm dead.

And bonus:

I saw Jeff Mills a few years ago. The missus got pissed off there was no drop. :p

Meg Ward is a good recent discovery you might like.

When i go dance it's usually house music or similar stuff (not an expert with music genres)

But it's kinda rare now at 34, between 20 and 30 i was far more active.

I only went to one rave, I was more into the club scene. But I do love the genre and have a very extensive CD collection, one of my neighbours saw it one day and was surprised I had so much as I "Didn't look the type", he was very much the type though as he left with armfuls of CD's to rip.

Early 90s is my era, love all the rave tunes from back then like NJoi, early Prodigy etc. Been going through lots of old mixtapes recently IDing old tunes. These 3 are current faves.

Personally, I feel there's a large gap between some of the tracks listed in this topic & "Rave". IE: Trance & any form of house is not rave in my opinion. However, the term "rave" is a very broad spectrum of electronic music it seems.

(PS: I love trance).

Here's some of what I class as "rave".

Yeh Rave is different across regions and era.

'Rave' where I am and used to go to a lot generally coincided with;

Happy Hardcore
Freeform
Hard House / Trance / NRG

....and was generally also associated with kandy, phat pants and dancing.

For reference, I was at this rave.

In other areas it was a lot broader.
