AssMan said:This game is !##$#%% HARD if you run out of ammo. Why 10 bullets? Isn't Leon's gun a .45 and don't they hold 16 bullets?
Oh well. Other than that the animation, graphics, and artstyle is awesome.
One more problem:I hope Capcom fixes the audio problem with the villagers. They sound like robots.
ToyMachine228 said:So this is the same one that was released in Japan? So that means I can unlock the Submachine gun! How do you do that? Get enough pesos right?

Nope, just the minimum of $5.00.trippingmartian said:Awesome. Wonder if I have to pay in full to get this?
Musashi Wins! said:I'm intrigued by the story. I want to know what the f*(& is going on in the town. Some of the descriptions are funny in their understatement as well. "They seemed to have killed a lot of people. I hope she's okay!".
The graphics are uneven in this build, but I like that it's longer. The combat and movement are so bad for an action title that we were alternately laughing and cursing at the screen so it never gets scary.

dark10x said:I have that disc as well, but the RE4 demo won't load for me. I just end up with a black screen for some reason... :\
The videos and menu work just fine, but the actual demo does not. I can't even begin to imagine why. It's not as if I've had any other GC related issues before...
My Cube doesn't even seem to freeze. The wavebird indicator light stills functions as I press buttons and the soft reset button the console works as well.

Mrbob said:So the tank controls do or do not work better with this new perspective? Or do you mean with the tank controls it makes everything on screen look strange?
*Does not have demo yet*
Musashi Wins! said:They work very poorly for how action intensive it gets. I mean...it's great that the action is set up the way it is, it's exciting in a different manner than the other RE's I've tried, but the controls are poorly suited to handle it. I'm not sure why a designer of a game would hamstring the player that way. I know that you actually play and enjoy such games, so you'll see what I mean when you play it, Mrbob. Suffice to say that the limitations are ...just that, rather than heightening any sense of fear. I'm not scared that I can't target my enemy...I'm just wondering why the handpicked agent of the President moves like an RPG character. It's archaic and badly done.
dark10x said:Well, that demo was pretty damn cool.
I'm not a huge fan of the controls/camera, but they are a massive improvement over the previous games. The combat feels a whole lot better than it did in any other RE game to date. I also like the kick feature when enemies get too close.
For some reason, moving around that town area reminded me a whole lot of Siren. Actually, the whole game kinda feels like Siren thus far (minus the sight jacking). Of course, this is nowhere near as difficult as Siren was (thankfully).
The new engine seems pretty kickass, though. The individual maps are pretty large, load very quickly, and all houses and structures seem to allow for immediate access (that is, no load points). It looks very nice, but I was disappointed to see that it only renders in 16-bit color. It certainly isn't as grainy as, say, Prince of Persia WW (which was a mess), but smoke clouds and dark areas are a bit grainy. I suppose, in this case, it works with the atmosphere. I don't think the PS2 will have too much trouble handling this game, though.
dark10x said:I do agree with this. Like I said, it feels better than previous RE games, but that doesn't mean it's really good. It still controls worse than other games from the same genre, and considering how fast the action can get, that's not a good thing. The enemies really do come on pretty strong. The controls are simply not quick enough.
OG_Original Gamer said:I think it depends on the player because, I watched one of the 1up vids and the player sucked, the player was shooting the villagers one time with shotgun and moving on.
The IGN vids the player seems to play more tactical, instead of running into the area with all the catwalks, he switched to the sniper rifle and started picking them off one by one.
Because of the controls, your forced to look for a advantage, like climbing up ladders to the roof of cabins. Giving yourself a height advantage.

Musashi Wins! said:I'm not saying it won't be a good game, but it's clear it could be better.
Goreomedy said:I'd only consider keyboard and mouse support "better".
I understand why they've decided to go with this control scheme. It captures the spirit(and limitations) of both the classic RE and Gun Survivor games. They've struck a nice balance between appeasing fans of the franchise and opening it up to those who may have been alienated. For introducing context sensitive actions and bumping up responsiveness, I think they deserve some credit. The demo plays fluidly after about an hour-or-so learning curve.
But then... I like Metroid Prime.
GameStop is offering it via online only. In-store pre-order bonus is the demo disc.dark10x said:What? You got a soundtrack disc? For what game? Surely not Resident Evil 4 (there is no soundtrack yet, AFAIK).
Simo said:Unfortunatly not. This demo is a slightly new build and neither the Famitsu or E3 demo. The HUD is different for a start as well as some new items and tweaks added. Some content has also been removed like the portrait of the Chainsaw Guy for example.
I think the controls are just fine. The new aiming system is great, but I could be better at it. :lol The camera definetly takes some getting used to though. I remember reading on IGN that you could switch to First Person, but this is IGN, so I wouldn't expect much. :lolAssMan said:Surprisingly, I don't have a problem with the controls. They're spot on, but the camera can get annoying. I think Capcom was trying to mimic a person's view in real life which is why people are having problems with the camera.

Yeah, now that I think about it, the FPS system has been mentioned elsewhere. I guess they thought the current perspective was working much better than the FPS perspective, and decided to get rid of it. Oh, and are you calling me Itigaki because you don't like the controls?ToyMachine228 said:OK Itagaki. And I love the new camera as well. I believe Game Informer reported a first-person aiming option too. But I beleive that they mean being able to aim in first-person, ala MGS. This may have been scrapped.
