Anybody else feels this game doesn't look as hot as it should?
The art style is on point and the combat is good, and although the graphics are excellent they're not mind blowing like the OG was on the PS2. They're on par with 2 and 3 Remake and those are last gen games. I think Capcom aiming to port this everywhere (including last gen and mobile) really held the visuals back.
I'm currently playing on PS5 Pro with all the bells and whistles, Ray-tracing, HDR, resolution mode, VRR uncapped on a 65" inch OLED, even that phaggy "hair strand" setting turned on. Yet the game just doesn't pop to me. Even with the 4K resolution the image doesn't look crisp, everything's kinda blurry and inconsistent.
It's kind of a bummer because I don't think we're getting another shot at a remake of this game for the rest of our lifetime, and Capcom decided to cook this on a freaking PS4.
Still an excellent game and an instant classic, just as the original; but the graphics had a lot more potential.
The lack of invincibility frames, enemies constantly grabbing you from off screen, breakable knives are pointless (just have 1 knife and be done with it), bullet sponge enemies, bullets lacking any impact like the original (shooting in the face, leg). The voice acting is worse than the original, the new El Gigante constantly throwing rocks boss battle is actually boring, the music is worse. These are just things I can remember off the top of my head. Yeah, "terrible tastes". This remake is an ok game at best, nothing spectacular. OG RE4 shits on it from great heights. Can you back up that I have terrible taste with anything good apart from visuals?Wow some of you have terrible tastes in video games lmao

"Oh no, I can't abuse the game mechanics by leaping over a ledge or kicking in doors anymore!"
Skill issue. Can easily happen in the Original as well.
It's not pointless, it's designed to be a resource for defense. If the knife was unbreakable, the parry system would be too OP of a defense mechanic.
In a Resident Evil game!? No fucking way dude...
Agreed to extent, but some voice actors in the Remake, such as the ones for Luis and Ashley, definitely do better than their originals.
I don't understand how you can think this when the remake version has a wider move set. And no he doesn't constantly throw rocks.
Anyway, all of this is to say your taste is da poop.
The enemies in the original RE4 weren't bullet sponges.
It's clear the devs wanted to shake up the original's gameplay, but it's about balance and I don't think they quite got it right. For me the game carries too much of 2R/3R's DNA when the game plays nothing like them. You're right, they were easy as shit. Every single headshot in the original game staggers them, and it's easy to pull off a headshot due to how slow they are. The strategy for every fight in the original is Headshot -> Kick, Headshot -> Kick, Headshot -> Kick.
The developers of the Remake gave way more depth and challenge to the combat. Not every headshot rewards you with a stragger. You knife is now a resource on whether you want to parry, stealth kill, or stop an enemy from evolving. There are far more enemies on screen now. They have different tactics. They have different ways of attacking you. There is more variety in how combat plays out in the Remake. They made the enemies tougher and smarter, so fans didn't go into the game with the same Headshot -> Kick mentality, thinking they were going to easily conquer the game from the get go.
But some people want to boil it down to "boollet thhsponges!"

Ugh. You've got the wit too.But some people want to boil it down to "boollet thhsponges!"
What? They were as bullet sponges as can be, there's not even a gore system (aside from the head that counts as instakill) like in RE4 Remake, enemies in Remake you can blow their arms off with the knife or with a powerful gun and they still resist & don't immediately die, but they get preoccupied/staggered with a long animation which rewards the player for good aiming, in OG RE4 they flail around left & right left & right, it is awesome, but that is in its time honestly. The enemies in the original RE4 weren't bullet sponges.
Why are you laughing? He is right. PS5 Pro is good, but it still won't outdo a 4070 series card or higher.
The Electric Underground made a good video about it. I might check that out. Thanks. The Electric Underground made a good video about it. I prefer RE4 original gameplay.
nailed it. I still enjoyed the remake, but the original is a much tighter and better arcadey action experience. Also the new Ada voice actress is horrendous and they shoulda got the RE5 Wesker actor back. The lack of invincibility frames, enemies constantly grabbing you from off screen, breakable knives are pointless (just have 1 knife and be done with it), bullet sponge enemies, bullets lacking any impact like the original (shooting in the face, leg). I agree. I didn't like any of the voice actors. Zero charisma.nailed it. I still enjoyed the remake, but the original is a much tighter and better arcadey action experience. Also the new Ada voice actress is horrendous and they shoulda got the RE5 Wesker actor back.
