RE4's camera: yay or nay?

I've just reached the second disc of RE4 and was wondering what the general opinion is of the camera Capcom implemented into the game?

Personally, I think it looks kind of neat, but is way to zoomed in for its own good. There are times that enemies will completely blindside you if they come from Leon's left, and other times where Leon's body will completely block your view of an upcoming animal trap.

Other than for a little extra cinematic impact during gameplay, I really don't see any reason to stick the camera waste-high and off-centered behind the character.

EDIT: Ah yes, forgot to mention, I do still prefer it to the old static backgrounds.

I didn't have that big a problem with it. It's a 3rd person shooter, the main character will always block something. It's just the nature of the beast.

And there are times where you should be looking where you're going, that's why you're able to move the camera with the c-stick while you walk.

Wait.. what?
.... :lol

Wow, bad sense of humor maybe? Is it hard to understand that I think it is a good game with an imperfect camera? And silly me, I should move the C-stick instead of run from the enemies. My God, you don't have to defend everything in the game.

Let me guess, you also enjoyed furiously tapping A to climb cliffs during cutscenes? I personally thought it was the best gameplay innovation since the off-centered wast-high camera.

You people are fucking obnoxious. Oh yeah, time for the mandatory laughy face, because apparently I'm a clever bastard. :lol

Please don't try to blame your imperfections on anyone/thing but yourself. You said their are times you can't see whatever and I said that's why the c-stick is there.

How the hell did that transform into me defending everything in the game? :lol

YES! Mandatory laugh face strikes again! :lol

And just because my right eye has better peripheral vision than my left, doesn't make me imperfect.

The camera is not perfect but really there's never been an absolute perfect camera. And was that "I prefer static backgrounds" thing a joke? Are you telling me that "OMG sometimes I have trouble with seeing things on my left but I can quickly check with the C-Stick" is somehow worse than "I can't fucking see the zombie and can't do anything but run away or shoot wherever the R button aims!"?

:lol :lol :lol

>.>

EDIT: It's really hard for certain aspects of a game to be perfect. In 3D action games--it's the camera system.

If the camera isn't shit bad that makes it unplayable, than really--when it comes to 3D action games you got a good camera. Simple as that.

Is the camera in RE4 an improvement over lets say...RE3?

Hell yes, therefore Capcom - mission accomplished. Simple as that.

I thought the camera was infinitely better for gameplay, although I actually do think that the static backgrounds were a lot better for the atmosphere of RE games. Maybe something more like RE:CV with better combat controls would be ideal IMO.

I love the RE4 camera its ingenious, i wonder why no else of thought such a simple idea before. I actually think the re4 camera perspective is under rated

My problem with the camera stems from not being able to focus the character with it like you can most third person games. After I head look with the c-stick I think you should be able to press the aim button already aiming where you were previously looking. So you can watch your surroundings a bit more. They could compensate for the advantage by making the enemies a bit more relentless. The difficulty remains the same while the playability is increased even further.

YAY!

That camera and the aiming system is a combo from depths of hell! Either give me a proper first person with ability to shoot while moving (never gonna happen because you people are pussies), or if you must give me a stilted 2nd person camera because frame rate would be utter shit with proper first person, then at least go all the way with the damn laser aiming system!

Whatever I aim at sholuld give me a laser dot feedback, not just the ones deemed targetable by the dev, otherwise you have situation like in this game where you are waving the gun around like an idiot because you have no idea if your laser sight is near your intended target or not.

And don't give me how I just suck at the game BS. I beat the bitch with 0 deaths in less than 20 hours on the first try at the professional mode, and got all the secrets unlocked including the hand cannon.
