Me and my wife are addicted to watching video game playthroughs. Is that weird?

It's like, sometimes I'm not in the mood to actually play a video game, so I'll watch one instead. We're watching "Her Story" at the moment.

I can't recommend SuperGreatFriend enough. He's been one of my go-to forms of entertainment for years.

Much more mature and informative than the majority of LPers and streamers, but still really fun. No offensive shock humor, no face cam, no clickbait thumbnails or titles. Just a smart, funny dude playing video games.

Niche FMV adventure game MODE
Japanese Twin Peaks ripoff Deadly Premonition (game has a NSFW opening where the Laura Palmer expy is discovered)
April Fools ASMR LP of campy horror game ILLBLEED

The only playthroughs I like watching are from the Game Grumps. Lots of times Egoraptor/Arin falls flat on his face, but then you get genuine gems like when he did a solo playthrough of Mega Man X.

I get annoyed even watching video walkthroughs! And I usually skip cutscenes. If I interact with a game it's to play!

I totally understand. That's how I was. My wife was more into watching people play Dark Souls and Bloodborne, since she only plays those sporadically. And Minecraft stuff she'd watch.

Eventually, I started watching them with her, and got hooked. It helps if you find a player that's entertaining in their own right. Some of the channels I watch, the players are funny or weird or otherwise enjoyable to listen to. I prefer to be playing games, but with my schedule, I don't have as much time to play games as I used to, so I'll put on a Let's Play in the background while I work. I've done a few of my own, but I'm not particularly good at them. I've done them for Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, but I'll try to do better in future livestreams. I'm terrible at sticking to a livestreaming schedule, so I just do it when I can.

I'll have to check these out! Thanks!

I like watching walkthroughs more than playing usually. I blame it on my sister. Growing up she would play a bunch of jrpgs and I'd be bored so I just watched her play. It became a habit.

Hmm I may join in this but not today, I'm ready to sleep and I'm not one to have a lot of selfies on hand.

I've always been super closed off and would never post a pic on here in previous years. I post like 1 or 2 pics a year on my facebook for family and friends. I think I have an irrational fear of people I know possibly seeing and seeing all I post about games when in real life I'm so closed off. Obviously it wouldn't matter if someone I know sees I'm on here lol, it's just a weird feeling I have.

But I've been trying to be more positive in general about everything in my life so why not do this for the first time. I know I don't look bad either so it's not that really, it's all a mental issue with me :)

I like let's plays, but I only watch them for games I know I won't or can't play, and games I've already beaten. Sometimes I'll watch them for survival stuff like Minecraft or something. As for cutscenes, I never skip them on first playthrough, and I rarely skip them on subsequent playthroughs.

No problem! I hope you enjoy them, although the games he plays tend to be very far from Soulsborne type games. He trends more toward obscure, quirky games.

I was sort of the same way except it wasn't out of boredom. I would watch my friend play games all the time as a little kid. We would hang out and I'd insist on him playing some single-player game. Sounds really weird typing it out :lol

Go for it!

That time of the year already huh?!

Not gonna join though. Last year I was in a discussion (in an unrelated topic) and someone was becoming rather rude and aggressive in his posts and when I asked why that was he said it might be because the face on my avatar was so punchable ;___;

Political parties in Finland have these tents in markets sometimes and they did now. They offer you coffee and bun for free so you would stick around and listen to them.
Today I went pass them and thought I'd get a free coffee. I try pouring milk in to the coffee cup and all that comes out are lumps. I thought the milk was spoiled when the smiling guy in front of me just said to try another carton. Then it hit me, it was frozen.

The only reason I know about this game is cause I watched Vaz play it at some point last year and ended up spending an hour and half watching him play this weird fucking game.

The game is certainly weird. Action Card RPG where the story is told mostly by NPCs than cutscenes. Sure the story is the generic "The fog is taking the land and devouring everything and its sign that a bigger evil may have awakened" as a way mostly to give you an excuse to go through the game looking for cards. Also bless the final main stage being a fuck you all the regular enemies here will be bosses.

Was it like Culdcept Saga?

You run on the stage from Point A t o B get into random battles plus the story battles and summon or throw independent monsters. (There is 3 types of summons and 5 types of independent enemies plus the fire, water, wood, earth, and neutral elements. (Lost Kingdoms 2 adds Mechanical types). On your face buttons you have 4 cards you can use from your 30 card deck and each card has different number of times you can use each card depending what they do. You can sacrifice a card to capture a monster (LK2 changes this to buying capture cards) and discard cards on your deck if you want to use something that works better for the random battle you got in (2 ditches random battles so there is room to escape enemies instead of paying 1 card to escape like LK1 penalty and also adds card combos which lead to higher damage attacks). Your MC cant attack by herself and depends on the cards so if you run out of cards you will most likely die in the stage unless you abort the mission. If you build a shitty deck you are likely to run out of cards but tbh the stages before you enter let you know what type of monsters are there so you are to blame if you didnt build a deck in mind to deal with the challenges ahead.

Overall its a weird game in the RPG genre where it doesnt focus much on the story (there is story if you bother to talk to NPCs) and gives you a unique battle system that is fun to play with to forget the little focus on the somewhat generic story for the 8 hours or so that it takes to beat which is also a weird thing for the genre at the time. The sequel can also be beaten around the same time and Ive seen speedruns of people beating the first game in 40 minutes and the sequel in 30 minutes so its quite interesting to see the runs least.

EDIT: Game runs flawlessly on dolphin emulator tbh.

Also my reaction gif from Lost Kingdoms 2 when I read something stupid on the internet.

I thought I had Jury Duty next week.

I have it this week.

As my life flashed before my eyes I called in and I wasn't due to call in until this afternoon anyways.

Holy shit. That was close.

Huh. That game sounds...really interesting. I'm sorta surprised I've never heard of it before but my Gamecube knowledge is pretty subpar.

Well the game didnt sell much and the reviews were pretty mixed for it. Oddly over the years it got some sort of cult status. Plus all the promo in the US it got was this and pretty much nothing else.

The game is pretty cheap to buy and not much to do to get it running fine on the emulator in 1080p 60fps XOXO

I only watch Let's Plays where the campaign is less than 14 hours

Watched Arkham Knight, Halo 6, Uncharted 4 and Last Guardian all the way through. Think that's it. Fun but I basically have to take a day off

Here's a pic of me, plus the front wall of my new living room.

I'm doing my best this year not to dress like a slob when working from home.

*they run big

Huh, crazy. Aren't they just regular Chucks with a print on them?

edit after checking the store, I can't help but laugh about pricing multiplying for a regular old shirt into the 300€ range as soon as that heart print is on it, heh. I'll never understand this type of fashion, I guess ^^

It's the SUPREME markup, my man.

People pay for branding. Big time.

Now the real story is how certain brands even get that big. I mean, like Bape wasn't even a thing a few years ago and now everyone wants it.

With that being said, some branding I like and it sucks to pay a premium for those designs just because.
