Thanks Stump for clearing that up, be it a comment from a moderator or not, it was helpful.

An official IRC would be nice, and though it wouldn't have the feel and mood this thread provides (as those of us like Lissar, Dave, Hawk, leadbelly, H.P, jasonng, lazybones, etc, know), it'd be better than nothing.

I hope that, no matter what ends up happening, in the very least this thread stays preserved. Whether it stay here or get moved to the Community tab, as long as it doesn't disappear..

I think it provides something quite valuable to this forum..

I agree actually. The forum layout and features adds something to the discussion. I understand that it's not really the purpose of a forum to be a chat room, but I find good topics of discussion come as a result of the casual chat within this thread.

I doubt I would participate if it were IRC, I'm afraid. Not my favorite medium (as per my thoughts on chat rooms in my last post) and not being able to easily backtrack conversations/see who I'm talking to is a big minus. I would take Community over locking/IRC any day. It'd be a shame, though.

I, too, think it provides something quite valuable to the forum.
 
Had to hide the Abra head I've been using for what feels like forever now, and the French part of my tri-flag background.. the photo was taken in France though, so I still have my three countries haha.

Yeah, I mean I would try... but last time I tried hanging out with people on IRC it didn't last long. I guess I just prefer forums.
 
I used to SSH into a server and IRC remotely from there, meaning my IRC session was just always available. Since I've been given a Windows box for work I don't connect any more. Not having a terminal has highlighted how lazy I am, as I can't be bothered installing a third party SSH client.

Yeah, there definitely won't be a RP February. But maybe people will retain their avatars and some of the ethos (civility) will filter into other threads.
 
Shame about the thread. I thought the liberal nature was a product of it having a timer on it.

I suppose we could judge each other on our looks

Thats sad but I think it will be interesting to see who sticks with the Real Pic avatars, I for one probably will for a while after the end of the month.

Oh I've been doing that already. You should see my graph comparing looks to post quality.

I will do the mIRC thing later. My son is jumping on me saying 'LETS WATCH MY LITTLE PONY!!!'
 
Nope, I've tried all ports from 6665-7001 and irc.gamecubecafe.com isn't letting me in.

Edit: Finally got in.... McAfee was blocking me.
 
PS. Any Mac/iPhone users, i'm going to try Colloquy, which looks pretty good. Hope it works, Dave's situation is sorta troubling me. :s

[EDIT] ALSO, when this is all over or whatever, I really think we should move this thread to community and keep it open or at least have it still exist. There are so many lurkers on GAF, and how many people do you think will come in here and see the password (be it 'believe' or whatever) and just join in? I'd rather have a p/w on the community side stickied or something, so only members can see it.
 
I might hit up the irc after the month is out, if people are still using it.

As long as I'm somewhere in the top 50%, I'm okay with this.

My kid is also completely addicted to MLP now, virtually overnight. My wife is teetering on the edge. She actually used the term "brony" yesterday; I can't believe that term has infiltrated the general populace.
It's a good show and all but I still don't get the hype, it's certainly not the best cartoon ever made for crying out loud
