OT2, huzzah! Sorry I haven't been around much guys. I've been on my days off and rarely find the time to be behind a computer. I'm glad we got to OT2 without mass bannings.
Anyone else stressed about work right now?
I feel the pressure from tomorrows useless meeting, fridays other useless meeting and my requirement to get something working by the end of this month, and I have no clear idea on what to implement into my software.
Can't sleep well at night as I think about workstuff all the time.

Any stress is perfectly acceptable here. I hate this. If I can produce some nice results and work a lot during the day, I usually feel better. But that did not happen today. I just want to go home and rest, but I feel I should stay and work more. It's already 19.30.

Did get a haircut. Haven't bothered with a short haired avatar yet. I kinda forgot about it after my mask arrived and I did the mask avatar.

Speaking of this, both of you are right, it was nearing in on the 20k limit, but apparently that wasn't the only reason it was 'prematurely' locked.
PM'd EviLore about it before OT2 was up (below), we're on shaky grounds here so I suggest everyone read his words and try not to let this thread deviate into that, or else we'll be closed pre-Jan 31st.

One thread that gets massive page impressions with advertisements, has a sense of community and talks about many different topics, why cant it exist? How many countless other GAF threads have gone so far off the rails that they weren't even remotely like the OP? I do believe the much touted Dudebro II started out as a Imagine Baby thread.
Edit 3: So, I guess from now on, in order to keep it "on topic" in a forum labelled Off-Topic, we need to include some reference to our own or someone else's avatar in the post. I already covered that above, so I guess I'm on topic... in an off topic thread.

No need to overact, just understand where EviLore is coming from. When you have a general thread about anything it doesn't leave room for other threads to come to light. There are over dozens of topics that's been discussed here that deserved its own thread. Yet it gets lost and forgotten just as soon as another conversation starts. It becomes a mess. That's just the way the format of a forum permits.
I just want to remind everyone again (and I'll keep reminding until the end of January) that there is a Tinychat chatroom just for gaf. There are a lot of mods there and we're all friendly. la1n and I are somewhat regulars there already. Granted, the flow of conversation is not going to be the same as this thread but it's better than nothing. There's room for both the forums and a chatroom to coexists.

It's true that the first thread mainly became a social hang out more than anything by the end. But does anyone else find that as fascinating as me? This one thread has added a whole new dimension to being on GAF. When would you ever discuss random everyday stuff on GAF and enjoy it before this thread?

This seems like kind of an odd reaction.
I personally don't think there's anything wrong with people chatting and having fun. Not every thread has to be an ultra serious discussion where the stakes are the future of the free world.
I feel like there is a huge difference between a thread like this, and say a thread about a news article or a thread on abortion or a thread about a game announcement. It's a fun thread based off a novel idea that the forum responded to in an overwhelmingly positive way.
I don't see any users complaining about the thread (what would they complain about?), it's gotten some members to stop lurking, and it generates more ad revenue for GAF, so I really don't see the problem.
I guess we can all give philosophical posts about the choice between Real Pic'ing or not, and the inherent advantages to either position, and then relate all this to the human condition at large. Because everything is so serious.

This is why I wish NeoGAF had an official IRC channel. It could be Real Pic GAF all day, every day. Although, I didn't participate as much as some posters, I did check this thread regularly and got to see the faces behind the avatars, and most importantly got to know a few of you a little more.

(I kinda agree with you, though)I disagree, if this were in the Community tab it would die out within the week. No one actively checks that place out, and if so, it's mainly for gaming OT's and not off-topic related stuff.
If the only way to get this thread to stay alive is to throw it over there, though, i'll bite.
Lol, I think the point is that he (or anyone) doesn't want to invest time and conversation in a thread, simply to see it get closed for 'talking' openly (i.e. 'chat room').
That, and plus I don't want to be constantly self-conscious of how i'm posting to try not to fall into EviL's 'general purpose discussion' category of chat.
