Director: Shawn Levy (Night at the Museums, Date Night, The Pink Panther)
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand and Hope Davis.

Teaser (no HD/official one yet) - IMDb

Theatrical Trailer [HD] (streaming/emeddable)

Plot: Hugh Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Date Night was actually good, so Levy could possibly be on a upwards spiral. Possibly.
Yeah it was decent.

My concern is that they don't sentimentalize the robot, that could be a poor decision.

Did I just see Evangeline Lilly in the trailer?

Edit: Yeah...it was her. Did not read the article, just saw the trailer. :D

I was expecting to read that he had to get back in the ring and defeat it:lol
Looks decent enough but its a year away so ill have forgotten about it in a week.

"Times have changed.."

"Fighting has changed.."

..

"War..has changed.."

Hugh Jackman IS Solid Snake.

Robot Jox remake?

Hey Robot Jox was about war, treason, love, the importance of scientific research, and the future of man kind.

This is just celebrating the excess of western culture. My, how we have fallen from our noble ideals.

well that looked kinda crappy. maybe its me talking as a fight fan but why the hell would you want to see robots fighting instead of actual human beings?

If they had lasers and shit and where exploding shit left and right, fuck yea. But this looks stupid.

The spectacle of it all I guess.

Maybe people-fighting becomes illegal.

So this is that hollywood originality everyone has been clamoring for...

This sadly looks totally bad. The only Hugh Jackman movie I want to hear about at all at this point is Aranofsky's Wolverine.

Ehhh... would have been cooler if it was Jackman fighting the robots.

IF they're going to have Hugh Jackman fighting robots, they might as well just make a Magnus The Robot Fighter movie.

No wait, that's an awesome idea.

I will watch this. I must support hugh jackman - god knows the man gets ecstatic over every role he is offered. Poor guy.

the only problem i see with this movie is that the robot designs are just really boring. we need more mech and less tech.

At first I was like, "cool a live-action Texhnolyze", but kept watching and came away decidedly disappointed.

If there's no physical risk to the fighter, which the trailer hints is the case, then this doesn't seem very compelling at all.
