sounds just like metheo said:yeah i know, man i've been listening to classic rock for a very long time. i got fed up with the whole modern rock scene and all that nu-metal shit.
i know you are a huge interpol fan.nitewulf... c'mon. Interpol sounds nothing like Joy Division, musically speaking. Joy Division's music was really sparse and cold.... the only similarity is in the vocals, and it's blown way out of proportion.
i know. what im saying is, better this than cliched angry nu-metal, and cheesy angry gangsta rap. at least these bands exude a "feel good" vibe. the younger gen listens to just the music anyway. they are not gonna care about the lyrics all that much.Having been brought up on the likes of Joy Division, Bauhaus, PiL et all in the 80s. I just don't get the appeal. It's like de ja vu... and the fashion / aesthetic trends that seem to running in parallel to this "movement" are equally vapid. But this is just one cynical mans point-of-view.
Well, I see what you mean... but to me they are not much different from cliched angry nu-metal or cheesy angry gangsta rap -- just a different audience. But with that said, I do enjoy the occasional Interpol track, much like I enjoy the occasional gangsta rap track or cheesy pop song.nitewulf said:i know. what im saying is, better this than cliched angry nu-metal, and cheesy angry gangsta rap. at least these bands exude a "feel good" vibe. the younger gen listens to just the music anyway. they are not gonna care about the lyrics all that much.
i mean, you know as well as i do that JD, Bauhaus are never gonna be mainstream, even if some of the new waves trends come back. just like fad gadget, gary numan never became really mainstream superstars. most ppl are gonna listen to the stuff thats watered down, always.
Talking Heads?nitewulf said:new age? you dont want that shit, thats hare rama/hare krishna stuff! :lol
i think you meant new wave, i'd suggest starting with pet shop boys and depeche mode. then moving onto new order, fad gadget, gary newman, devo and so on.
