My current phone is kinda old (huawei p8 lite) and I'm running into issues because the internal storage is small (16gb).
I'm looking for a new, not very expensive phone, but all I had before were Sony phones and Huwaeis and I'm not interested in getting any of those brands again (Sony - overpriced, Huwaei - no Google services now).
All is need 3gb ram minimum, 64gb internal storage min and 1080p screen (I can probablyllive with a 720p screen).
I'm not interested in expensive phones with 50MP cameras, 5MP is more than enough for the very rare photos I take and I don't game on the phone, I HATE phone gaming. The main thing is internal storage for all the apps I need.
I heard of new brands, wiko, realme, etc, but I know nothing about them.
Anyone has any suggestions?

Not very expensive is tough to find now

Here's my recommendation if you don't want an iPhone

Put extra on this one then you don't need to change for years

Moto G8 series or Redmi 8 series.

New phones so software, security updates won't be an issue for a while.

Both have all your requirments and then some. Huge batteries.

Mehhh.

At least for me it is something without importance.

Mate 20 Pro have Google apps
It's a turnoff for others, i'm sure people would enjoy using youtube app etc... better than browsing youtube thru chrome (oh wait can't use chrome aswell).
The ban started with mate 30, anything after that release doesn't support Google.

Thanks for all the replies. Some of those brands are not available In Portugal, but after some research xiaomi redmi 8/ note 8/note 8t/9 seems to be the best fit.
I'm limiting to 200€, I don't use the phone enough to justify more than that, it's basically emergency calls only, no games, no music, few photos. It's mostly for Web browsing and apps (WhatsApp, Skype, messenger, services, etc).

And this is what you should do, i don't understand people buying expensive phones (social status).

I have a Pixel 3A. Great phone.

Would grab that. Has Android 10 and already runs Android 11. Probably be able to find a good deal...no point waiting for the 4A which Google is refusing to sell.

I have a Redmi note 8 pro, it's very solid. I bought the 64gb version because this model comes with an mSD card extension (one tier higher, Mi 9 - not pro - does not). One thing against it could be the LCD instead of samoled, but the screen is excellent. It also has a notch at the top which is a dealbreaker for some people. And it uses a Mediatek cpu instead of the more commonly used Snapdragon so custom rom support is more limited. But when I was buying this was pretty much the best buy option at 200, given its feature set€.

it's aight.

Samsung S10 is a great phone. S20 is probably better if you have the monies.
NO.

I've bought my mom an LG G8s two weeks ago. 330€. It's a flagship (Snapdragon 855, 6GB Ram, 128GB internal storage, has SD card slot, proper stereo speakers) from last year that crashed in price like mad. It's got an iPhone style notch, though.

I'd take a look at old flagships. You can get some amazing deals that shit all over current mid-range offerings.

Yeah it's fine. I got the 128GB one. Difference was only a few bucks. It handles multitasking really good with 6GB RAM and the battery lasts forever (I'm playing lots of Pokemon Go lol)

There's a nice tool to get rid of some of the pre-installed crap

I ordered the Xiaomi Redmi 9.
Found a good deal for the 4gb/64gb, 169€ at the official store instead of 199€ that most stores want for it, and it comes in green!
I won't have to buy a green silicone cover, the transparent one that comes with the phone will do.

Thanks for the help!

Pixel 3a is pretty good. Switched to that after my Galaxy S7 started dying and I don't need a flagship phone anymore.

$400

Not sure how the newers are but I loved my first or second gen (don't remember) Moto G.
It was cheap and aside from the shit camera it worked well.

Upgraded to a flagship Samsung some years later and while the screen and camera were much nicer, I honest didn't feel any improvements in performance.

But it has been a long time. I don't know how well the are doing now though the people I know that have some of newer ones seem happy with them

Going by what I have 'LG G6' it's reliable and music quality is solid.

I don't care about latest trends but what lasts and this phone seems the case. Plus, I think LG are the only ones that still keep a 3.5mm headphone jack for pure music lovers.

I have a G6 and it is slow as fuck, its seriously ridiculous. Doing basically anything involves a huge delay, like the memory management is totally fucked or something. Is yours not like that?

It's my first smartphone ever and I'm 33 so I'm not sure, but everything I want it to do, it does without hesitation.

Also me saying I'm 33 is depressing enough, so I hope you find a way out of your situation.

You just took made the decision to be spy'd on 24/7, at 33 it's an achievement.

I wish plain FreeBSD or Linux were options for phone OS.
They were making an Ubuntu version for phones, but I never heard about it again.

Huawei has got the largest amount of bloatware and shitware than any other phone out there. You can't even do simple tasks without the phone asking or offering you something.

Avoid if you can.
