... I've been comfortable with my LG V20 for some time now. Got mine for less than $200.
Has a headphone jack, camera, and a removable battery (which at the time my friends told me was becoming uncommon).
Never had any problems with it.

I like my Moto G 7 Power. You should look at it if you want something affordable with crazy battery life. Just don't expect to play any complex games on it. It's fine for the more casual stuff but I really don't game on my phone.

OnePlus7? I have the 6 and it's still very nice. Affordable, great camera, lighting fast charger, smooth interface, etc. I'd say the worst thing is the microphone / speakers, which isn't a huge deal unless you're recording at a loud concert or something.

- Sony Xperia 10 II, cheap, big screen yet "compact" (due to screen ratio), nice design and quality, 128GB, micro sd slot, 3.5mm jack, amazing battery life/optimization, perf good enough, 4GB ram...

- LG G8 high range performance with everything you need and cheap in 2020. (LG don't have bootloop issues since years now)

- iPhone SE (the latest one)

Everything else is crap or overpriced.

I'm not buying a smartphone without gorilla glass anymore.
After seeing my friends and relatives destroy their phones so easily I can safely say that I love the P10 glass which never broke after falling on the floor.

I would buy any model from the Samsung S10 series. That was the best smartphone I've ever had. Currently I have the S20 Ultra, which feels more like a downgrade, especially with the camera.

S10 is the best! :messenger_heart:

Thanks for all the replies. Some of those brands are not available In Portugal, but after some research xiaomi redmi 8/ note 8/note 8t/9 seems to be the best fit.
I'm limiting to 200€, I don't use the phone enough to justify more than that, it's basically emergency calls only, no games, no music, few photos. It's mostly for Web browsing and apps (WhatsApp, Skype, messenger, services, etc).
I'm more of a cheapo phone dude aswell:
tested a Honor 9x for 3 weeks - great phone, no complaints apart from the music-EQ being annoying - should be 200€
tested a Redmi Note 9S for 2 weeks - great phone, no complaints - sub 200€

edit: available on amazon.es, which is a redirect when I went on amazon.pt? weird.

Google just discontinued production of the Pixel 3A. If you can find one, it's a fantastic phone for the price with a great camera if that matters to you.

I'm rocking an LG V50 5G I got for $275 on ebay back in March. It uses Sprint as the service. IF you arent in the states, I honestly don't know what's available in Portugal, but the V50 is amazing for the price. Only a year old and has all the flagship features.

EDIT: No Camera bump and a built-in High quality DAC 3.5mm headphone jack plus expandable storage with 128GB internal. 855 Snapdragon processor and it's running Android 10. Should get 11. That's really the only thing bad about a branded LG device. Updates will be slow to get and i don't know how many years it will be supported. But LG phones drop like a rock in price, so in 2023 or 2024 I'm sure they'll be a year old LG flagship around the same price as this one.

You are the minority komrade. There are also only two genders.
You leftists are the freaks. You have zero influence out of your echo chambers like unis.

I'm not a leftist or anything else you may believe/want me to be. Stop projecting your imaginery bullshit onto others.

The Moto G series are fantastic phones for the price. I paid £99 for my Moto G5 and it has been great.

I've been a Samsung user for most of my time, but since huawei got rid of google I went for Huawei. It is a bit less user friendly cause you will need to install apps from their store or use a pc, but the phone is way mor snappy than expected.

Otherwise you can get a oneplus Nord that is coming out soon.

I've stuck with Sony Xperias since 2013 with the ZL, Z3 and currently the XZ1. Bit the bullet and ordered a Xperia 1 Mk ii since the one I have now is getting long in the tooth and the new one is making me quite hyped for all the upgrades it offers. I'm also looking to get more into photography so this looks right up my alley.

I just prefer the elegant and sleek designs of Sony's Xperia line. I've also been spoiled with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button on my XZ1 and also like the fact that Sony had kept the headphone jack with said new phone model. The screen (Gorilla Glass ftw) and front facing stereo speakers are enticing as well. I've already got my phone case ready for it from Amazon.

So yeah, I recommend Sony Xperia phones. 😁

Yeah, I'm stuck looking for a new phone too. I'm currently using a Sony Xperia ZXP, but T-Mobile in the US is dropping all phones that don't support VoLTE in January.

I've been looking for a bit, but I've fallen in love with the dual front facing speakers, memory card slot (download videos/movies to), 4k screen, and an unlocked phone. The finger-print sensor in the power button on the side won't work for unlocking the phone (too many errors) but works great for apps. (Go figure that crap)

The OnePlus 7 seems nice (minus the memory card slot), but I can't find the model with the pop-up camera(which I'll never use) for sale new. The Sony phones are too rich for my blood but more importantly their software support sucks. Fuck Samsung and their Android skin. I loved my nexus 5 and 6P, but they both died early deaths. LG I'm on the fence about - can anyone talk about their software support? Is it 2 years from 1st street date then screw you like Sony?

What complicates matters is where I live. The 600Mhz band that the wife's pixel 3a supports let's her phone work at the house, while my Sony turns into a paperweight....

Since this thread has been up, OnePlus have actually launched a new midtier phone that's actually decently priced called the OnePlus NORD:
