They probably could've seen double those numbers if they kept supporting it with singleplayer DLC and especially multiplayer updates.

Morons let this game die in favor of GTAV. They could've had both.
 
People like slow playing games with input-lag and good graphics. RDR2 is almost all presentation imo. Maybe it should have been a movie but then the writing would have been exposed as mediocre when compared to other films.

What about TV shows as a better comparison? Movies have the benefit of being 2-4 hours max.

Games like RDR2 need to stretch out a plot for over 40 hours. I'd say that would be 4-5 seasons of at least 10 episodes with every one lasting 1 hour each.
 
I'm just a bit annoyed. RDR2 is good in every way except the gameplay is not fun. If only Rockstar could have prioritized that above "immersion" and 4 second long character animations it could have been great.
