When Beyoncé put out her first song since 2014 over the weekend, Red Lobster probably wasn't expecting a sales bump to result.

The sit-down seafood restaurant got one anyway. The chain said sales were up 33% on Sunday over the previous year, thanks to a lyric in the new track that suggests using Red Lobster's food as a reward for sex.

Red Lobster spokesperson Erica Ettori said the brand was mentioned on Twitter 42,000 times in a single hour and trended for the first time in history.

...

The Red Lobster sales spike occurred despite its social media response. On Sunday, the chain's Twitter account offered up a cringe-worthy pun: "'Cheddar Bey Biscuits' has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"

Beyonce lyric

"When he f*ck me good I take his ass to Red Lobster."

So the thought process goes like this:

" Beyonce talks about Red Lobster after having sex... lets go try it out"

Really??

It's probably more like "Oh yeah Red Lobster. We haven't eaten there in a while, why don't we go?" It's a mindshare thing more than anything else.

Honestly do you guys have a problem with red lobster or someone famous acting like they like a middle class restaurant?

People are dumb for eating at a popular restaurant that is mentioned in a song?

I guess those same people are dumb for buying items that they see in commercials advertisements etc etc too right?

Some people just read into this stuff way too much I swear lol.

Those biscuits are legit. I don't eat fish but my dad worked for Darden for over 20 years so we'd go sometimes when I was younger. I swear they had like burgers and fries or something on the kid's menu that I'd eat as well. Haven't been in probably 15 years at least but I still think about those biscuits.

Are the ones you can make with the mix they sell even slightly comparable?

Going to Red Lobster for no reason other than Beyonce said it in a song is pretty fucking ridiculous

There's nothing wrong with going somewhere to eat because it was mentioned in a somg, people go to places because someone mention it all the time

Red Lobster is anti-police. Red Lobster? More like Black Panther.

But it's literally no different than buying a product because you saw a commercial. They're the samething. One was indirect advertisement via song lyric the other is direct adveritsement via TV.

Not any different than those catchy jingles you hear all the time about a product.

No it's not. Its the same when a drink is mentioned in a song, or a popular vacation spot or a celebrity and searching them on google etc. It's literally just free product or brand recognition and if the song is hot, yes there will be increase purchase numbers in said product or brand. This is not brand new.... Seriously... The reach is getting a bit much.

Curious to see how much Budweiser's sales have spiked since Peyton Manning name dropped the fuck out of them after the Super Bowl.

We found this and made some a couple months ago. Honestly they were better because i was able to barely knead them and they weren't as tough as the one time I had them au natural.

It kinda saddens me that I became a vegetarian and never tried Red Lobster. There's one that recently opened near my area.

Oh well.

I like how people were shifting on their social media for failing to take advantage of this situation.
