Reeses Peanut Butter Cups are the Shit

If you're over the age of 17, which in my opinion is the cut off age for Trick or Treating, do you miss going out and getting free candy every Halloween? Or have you matured beyond the appeal of free candy, if that's possible.

I'm invited to a party this Halloween but I'm being forced to take my little brother around the neighborhood to trick or treat. To be honest, I'm looking forward to it rather than going to a party and hanging out in the corner of a room by myself surrounded by people having fun.

All of the white chocolate versions of these things are even better. White chocolate peanut butter cups, Kit-Kats, etc....

I went for the easy racist joke here. Sorry.

But he's right, you know.

Reese cups ARE indeed awesome. But a big bagful of Reese Pieces is literally heaven in plastic.

As for white chocolate, it has its uses in certain contexts. However, I still prefer the taste of "traditional" chocolate.

Yes, yes they are. I prefer the Reese's Cup Miniatures which come out this time of year, though -- better chocolate-to-peanut-butter ratio.

Maybe its me, but I thought the white chocolate reese's cup tastes exactly the same as the normal milk chocolate one.

Your tastes are suspect-- it's all about the peanut butter, dude. ;) :p

On a related note, I'm really surprised that Reese's Pieces didn't catch on more than they did; I mean the REAL Reese's Pieces, the M&M-looking ones. Those are excellent, much better than M&M's imo. Now if you're talking about those big, round "nut" M&M's, then it's a whole 'nother story. :D

After you turn 20 every holiday is just an excuse to drink heavily. White chocolate is not chocolate, it has no cocoa beans in it. It's also kind of trashy.

I don't think I've been trick or treating since I was 13 or 14... can't say I miss it.

And yeah, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups rock. For that matter, all of Reeses' stuff does.

No it is not, in fact, chocolate. I never remember exactly what it is, but I know that it's technically not chocolate.

I also know that white chocolate is godawful.

Maybe trashy is to strong a word, but just a little uncultured and a tiny bit appealing, like a girl who slips in high-heels.

:lol, no offence but your post makes you sound like you're trying to trick us into thinking your older than 17.

Real white chocolate is made of cocoa butter, sugar, and milk. Regular chocolate is cocoa powder, chocolate liquor, coco butter, and sugar. i don't believe Ghirardelli's white chocolate sauce, the stuff used in the majority of coffeehouses in the US, is real white chocolate.

They had dark chocolate Reese's cups, and they were the fucking bomb. Of course, they pulled them from the shelves, at least around here, shortly after they began selling them. i really hate the overemphasis of sugar, salt, and fat in foods. i don't know if it's mainly an American thing, but it seems like it. i drink my coffee black, espresso drinks sans sweetener (including Italian syrups), and i drink my liquor on the rocks. i dream of a day when all chocolate sweets come in a dark chocolate version, and all soft drinks come in a dry version.

Dark Chocolate > Chocolate *infinity> White Chocolate.

Eating even small amounts of W Choco makes me ill. I can't stand the stuff.

Oh and Reese's Pieces > Reese's Cups.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to it rather than going to a party and hanging out in the corner of a room by myself surrounded by people having fun.
Be careful; continuing to have a demeanor like this will result in you turning out like me ;) You don't want that.

Well, actually, I'm sort of short and usually dress as a ninja, so nobody can tell that I'm 18. I love me some candy, and candy I will have... unless I'm at a haunted house.

Also, d00dz, the free candy buffets that are left on porches since there's a house party: if you hit 'em early, they'll still have some good stuff leftover!

White chocolate is HORRIBLE

Agreed. At least every piece of white chocolate that I've ever tried; who knows if I had the "real" stuff, however.

HOLD THE FUCK UP!!!!! There were reeses with OREOS in them?! You have to be lying. You just HAVE to be.

They weren't exactly Oreos, just one piece of chocolate cookie. They were still DAMN good, IMO.

Also, I think that once you're not a teenager, you're too old to be trick-or-treating...but you ARE old enough to go to raging Halloween parties, get hammered, and pick up on girls in "interesting" costumes. Personally, I think it's a fair trade to get over the lack of free candy. ;)

I have a KICKASS Halloween costume in mind, too -- too bad I don't have any parties currently on the calendar. Maybe I should throw one...?

No but I feel teh kiddy by going out and trick or treating when I could also be going to a party.... but I'd rather be out trick or treating.

I'm just trying to fit in. -_-

I trick or treated till I was 18. In order to replace the lack of candy I would normally get, I hit the after halloween sales. DISCOUNTED CHOCOLATE GO!

I still dress up every year. Christmas and Easter, I stock up on the tree and egg shapes reeses cups since they are a bit larger than the normal ones. Anyone ever eat one of those giant hershey kisses? That took me for forever to finish.

I'll be trick or treating this year for sure. It's been a couple years, but I think I have the routine down. The question is...what do I dress up as? I suppose I'll browse Halloween stores until I get some ideas.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
Really good white chocolate rules all. Dark chocolate is generally horrible.
Although eating too much white chocolate can get reeeeally sweet. Too sweet.

And as someone pointed out before, white chocolate doesn't contain chocolate per se. Here's a good explanation:

http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20030106.html

"The highest quality chocolate comes from cocoa beans that are dried naturally in the sun for a week -- shorter, artificial drying yields inferior chocolate. Next, the beans are roasted, and the shells are removed. Then the cocoa is ground, resulting in a thick liquid called chocolate liquor (it's not alcoholic). This liquor is used to make unsweetened chocolate.

For other chocolaty purposes, the liquor is pressed to extract the fat, which is called cocoa butter. With the fat removed, the liquor becomes a powder that is blended with the cocoa butter and other ingredients to make different kinds of chocolate. Plain chocolate is made of cocoa powder, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, and sugar. Milk chocolate, of course, has milk added. White chocolate is made of cocoa butter, milk, and sugar."

Definitely a fair tradeoff. Something about hooking up on Halloween night....it's like when women become older than 23, they throw off their moral shackles and just become a whole lot more fun to be around.

Didn't you already state you are 12 in another thread?

White Chocolate Cups: the shit
Milk Chocolate Cups: shit

Yes, as you grow older candy becomes less appealing. You might still enjoy it (I don't anymore really, and I'm not even old), but it's something you prefer occasionally rather than all the time. You actually start WANTING to eat your dinner before dessert. Many times, you don't even consider dessert. Yay!

I think I have matured passed the whole free candy thing. Can't say that I will have once I get some beer in me though.
