Reggie Asks Us: What developer would you like to see have a Nintendo franchise?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeell no. What does NIS have to offer that IntSys doesn't already do ten times better?
Actually, I thought that one up in like 5 seconds. It's just a brainfart. I only want more console Fire Emblem, that is all.

As a new idea, I know how GAF feels about our friend Dyack, but still:

Silicon Knights + Nintendo ---> Eternal Darkness 2
Shinji Mikami/Platinum Games + Nintendo ---> New horror game

Capcom + Nintendo = Nintendo vs. Capcom
Nippon Ichi + Nintendo = Fire Emblem
Sega + Nintendo Tokyo = Sonic and Mario platform adventure
Criterion + Nintendo = New Excite Series game

THIS THIS THIS except for Fire Emblem

Sega + Nintendo for F-Zero
EA + Nintendo = NES Pro Sports-style game (Ice Hockey, Baseball, Golf, Tennis, etc.)

A StarFox game made by Treasure would be awesome. They are a great choice, but I would rather see them work on something else like Contra or Castlevania. I think they would make a better Kid Icarus than a lot of people think, although Michel Ancel isn't a bad choice. In fact that's a great idea too. When thinking of who would be a good developer to work on a Nintendo property, I try to think of someone who will bring something new to the table. Treasure working on StarFox seems like a good idea, especially with them working on S&P2 which is already on rails, but they have a lot more experience in action games like Gunstar Super Heroes, Astro Boy, Bangai-O, Gradius V, etc. I think that another on rails shooter might be too much of the same from them in a short period of time. It would be interesting to see what they could do with Kid Icarus though.

As far as Michel Ancel goes, he would be a good contender as well. My fear with Kid Icarus is that it would be a Zelda clone. I admit I never played the original for more than a few minutes, but the series doesn't seem to have much to build on imo. Running around in a 3D world shooting a bow & arrow would be hard to get right. They would have to completely reboot the franchise and we already have games like God of War that are based on Greek mythology so where do they go? It would take a lot of work to get that game right.

I think the most likely contender of having a successful comeback is Donkey Kong. The question is, who can bring DK back? Nintendo seem to be creatively bankrupt with DK. You need someone who can come in and make a DK game that isn't like Mario or Zelda, it needs to stand on its own. In other words, someone needs to upend the table on DK. I think Hideki Kamiya and Platinum Games would be the best choice to bring back Donkey Kong. He's the most likely candidate to reinvent the franchise and it would be a challenge for him to do so. It would be awesome if Nintendo would offer him that challenge.

How about Nintendo comes up with a new, big-budget "core" gaming franchise themselves? Rather than not even bothering to make their own games anymore?

Monilith doing Baten Kaitos 3

This one seams realistic enough to me, but I doubt NOA has much contact with Monolith. I think we should be thinking more along the lines of western developers collaborating with Nintendo here. That said I would suggest Nintendo work with Double Fine on whatever their next game is.

Will Wright/Maxis on Animal Crossing
Bioware on Mother
Penutbutter on Jelly

But seriously, all I want is a Sonic & Mario platformer by Nintendo EAD Tokyo and Sonic Team (errr, staff from Sonic Adventure). Make me a 2D side scroller with 2 player co-op platforming for the DSi, and make me a Wii game in 3D. Do it!!!!!

Oh, and Nintendo VS Capcom. I'd love to see a tag team move featuring Ryu's red hadduken and Mario's fireball.

Zelda With Square it needs the rpg update and a new story for a change should stay ARPG but more items to find more weapons and upgrades and more.

F-zero with Sega based on Fzero GX customizable courses for online and 12 players online and 32 courses get the old snes music coposer to work on this.

Kid Icarus call it Icarus remove the kid do it with capcom Should do something like Chaos Legion and Devil May Cry and God of War style from it get Hideyuki Fukasawa from Chaos Legion to do the music.

Do Starfox based on Starfox 64 and Axelay with Factor 5 and Konami should be darker like Axelay and have powerups like Axelay the music should be done by Taro Kudou from Axelay. Weapon System and first stage of Axelay

Uh, no. DK Jungle Beat was one of the best games of last gen.
I tried JB on GC & Wii. It just felt like something was missing to me. On GC, the game was designed aroung the bongos. To me it felt like a gimmick. There were some good ideas there, but ultimately it just felt like the potential was held back by the controls. Moving the game to Wii was an improvement, but it's still a port of a game that was designed around hampered controls. I think that a game made from the ground up on Wii would be much better, but Nintendo and EAD Tokyo seem to be concentrating on Mario right now.

Also, there are a ton of games that I would consider to be the best of last gen. DK:JB is nowhere near the top of that list. I guess a good example of what I'm talking about as far as rebooting a franchise goes is Resident Evil. The gameplay in RE4 was completely changed and ended up being one of the best games of last gen. DMC was as well. If it weren't for those two games, we probably wouldn't have games like Gears of War and God of War. Hideki Kimaya and Shinki Mikami have proven themselves in being able to bring fresh ideas to games. That is essentially what Nintendo is all about. I guess what I'm saying is that I think DK deserves better and whether it's a first or third party, DK is a classic franchise that I would like to see brought back.

Think of the frame rate and the gameplay! :(

As long as Team ICO was using adequate hardware, I'm sure the framerate would be fine.

As for the gameplay, this is Team ICO. There's already better puzzle-solving in ICO and Shadow of the Colossus than any of the 3D Zelda games.

I'd like a DS Super Mario Brothers platformer by 5th cell.

And Q entertainment can do a puzzle league game. Mainly for the style and music.

I'd also like to see Suda 51 do just about anything, assuming he has funding.

Oh, and am I the only one who'd be morbidly curious to see a monster hunter/pokemon mix?
"Hmmm I need to collect 5 squirtle shells to make this armor."

If we're being realistic here and Reggie is taking note, Team ICO is a first part developer, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. Retro working on a Zelda game would be bliss.

Bioware - Pokemon

You know it just HAS to happen!

So they can add shitty romances and their cliche ridden characters into it? Get someone like Tim Schafer to write for it. Pokemon is suited for comedy.

Pretty much these:
Nintendo vs Capcom (developed by Capcom)

Zelda (developed by Valve)

Donkey Kong (developed by Sucker Punch!)

Nintendo-themed puzzler (developed by Popcap)

Wave Race (developed by Blackrock Studio)

I could have sworn I read somewhere that Bioware is working on a Wii game.

I could be wrong, though.

NOpe you was right:

BioWare have expressed some interest on working on the Wii, with some unannounced projects that are on the way.

The studio have worked on one of Nintendo's platforms, producing the so-so Sonic RPG for DS, and by the looks of things might be taking their skills into the world of Wii Remotes and nunchuck.

BioWare's Ray Muzyka spoke to IndustryGamers, confirming that despite the Wii's not-as-powerful architecture, the team are "intrigued by the idea of developing on Wii but we have nothing to announce right now. We do have some unannounced projects that we're not ready to talk about yet, and they are different from some things we've done in the past."

Think about a Bioware Super Mario RPG, imagine the dialog trees.

Well, we don't really need Team ICO, just Ueda himself. There has to be a loop hole somewhere for that. >_>
