Reliable Import Site?

So I'm looking for a place to buy the Hori SNES-styled GC controller, and I don't really have any experience with import sites. I had no problem locating a bunch of sites that sell the controller, but I want to be sure I'm not tossing my money away. Any recommendations?

Also: I know Lik-Sang is one name I hear tossed around often, but the Hori controller is on their back order list (well, the black one is, anyway, and I'd rather not have the blue), and I sort of need it now.

NCS http://www.ncsx.com is the one that's been around the longest and are definitely one of the best. Video Game Depot has been around awhile and also have very good service and selection. I've never used Play Asia but they definitely get a lot of praise too. So really, any of those three are going to be ok.

In addtion to play-asia and Lik-sang, japanvideogames.com is also good. Although I just drive down to their store for business instead of ordering online :P

Is Lik-Sang on the straight and narrow now? I don't really follow the import scene that much, and the last thing I heard about them had the words "Nintendo," "Sony," and "Microsoft" immediately preceding the word "lawsuit."

Vote number three for NCS. They're fantastic; I've been using them since 2000 and have zero complaints. Incredible customer service, reliable shipping, constant news updates on arrivals/shipments, etc.

The current Lik-Sang is basically a group of people who fled the previous one when it got hit with the lawsuits. So different company, same name, no more legal problems.

The Hori controller is coming out in the US soon. It was already supposed to be out before Thanksgiving, but apparently Hori US is having problems. Look for it marked as the Gameboy Player Digital Controller.

Vote #4 for NCSX. They are the best importer located within the U.S. I have been doing business with them since 1996 and have never had any major problems. Only ONCE did they screw up my order and forget to send it, and they overnighted the game with Saturday delivery for free to make up for it. Can't recommend them enough.

Video Game Depot seems to have dropped a lot of imports and is focusing more on domestic games, plus they don't ever get anything on time anymore. The same thing seems to have happened with Tronix, which used to be an awesome importer that was as good as NCSX. NCSX seems to be the only major importer left. I have used Play-Asia before, and have no complaints, but shipping costs a lot more if you want to get your package in a timely manner.

If you want something a little older and want to try a site many don't visit, I'd also recommend www.hypergameaction.com.

Lik Sang it's my usual shop, I have tested Play-Asia and NCSX and are fantastic shops, no problem with them. But Lik Sang has a free shipment service for most of its games that is really useful for a european like me (sending something through DHL or UPS from Asia to Europe means taxes with an important extra cost).

With the free shipping service the game comes in a reasonable time with no shipping cost (neither taxes).

If you want something more "special" I always recomend www.gamechoice.com.uk, awesome selection of all you can need.

NCSX for 90% of my stuff, and play-asia for anything i can't find at NCSX...

and SOMETIMES yesasia for stuff i cant find anywhere else (like BOBOBO ps2)

Lhadatt and Unison: thanks for the heads-up, but I already put my order in at play-asia. It was only a little over $22 after shipping, so I think I got a pretty good deal.

No problem. That's not a bad deal. I may get one from play-asia or NCS if Hori doesn't hurry up. :)

I tried yesasia.com a couple of times before and didn't have a problem (shipping was free, and it was actually shipped to me from some place in Canada, so there were no customs fees), but for my PSP I went to play-asia.com.

What was Play-Asia charging for the PSP? I couldn't find a price on their site. I pre-ordered mine from NCS; IIRC they have it at $255, but I'm sure it will go for more than that. Japan Video Games has it at $300; I'm expecting $350-$400 at launch though if there's really going to be a shortage.

$269.90 for the value pack, plus $31.60 for shipping of handheld plus 3 games (RR, Lumines and Minna no Golf, although I might cancel the last two).

I didn't get into too much detail... but I would like to add how much I've enjoyed NCSX's customer service as well. Nothing sucks more than having to deal with Customer service... but they really made it a pleasurable experience (and it was through email!)

Always have been impressed by their selection as well. If you are willing to pay (and yes, some of it is pricey but worth it) I really wouldn't look elsewhere.

Based out of NY, too, if I'm not mistaken.
