Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

Such a tragic loss. Its hard to believe we're coming up on normal podcast time and he won't be there :(

Normally around now on a Tuesday if the podcast isn't up I'm checking gaf looking for the thread and thinking "damnit Ryan finish editing already, I was hoping to get some listening it before bed!" Now the next podcast can take its sweet time, I don't know if I'll even be able to listen this week without shedding a tear or two

I regret not following him before Giantbomb, I think him and Jeff talking about Tyger on the first episode of Arrow Pointing Down was the first time I ever heard of him. Tyger was already taken from us, and now Ryan. The pain never ends... I definitely need to look up some Time Trotters and grab the hotspot best of collection from This Year

I hope everyone around him is doing okay. RIP

Just now seeing this and I am speechless. Such a heartbreaking loss. I don't even know what to say...

You will be missed, Ryan. Thoughts are with everyone at Giant Bomb, his friends, and family.

Oh man this is going to be hard to listen to. Just imagining Jeff saying his final goodbyes is tearing me up :(

I think Jeff has too much respect for Ryan to set the tone of a bombcast like that. I expect it to me very similar to the Harmonix stream (but in audio form), ie more upbeat and focusing on all the great times they all shared.

Just watch this and thank me later:

According to his father he "died peacefully of natural causes."

Cool, thanks for the update.

Assuming stroke, heart attack or something similar. They're not always the painful thing you see on TV. My Grandfather died of a stroke very recently whilst my cousin was sat right next to him. He barely made a sound. Just lent over like he was about to sleep on my cousins shoulder, made a very quiet sound like a soft single snore and that was it. No look of pain or anything like that.

Sorry for your loss brother. This is Filth_Flannigan from PSN. Yeah death doesn't have to be like entertainment portrays it. Many people do go "peacefully from natural causes."

i wouldn't call those two events peaceful

in his sleep, is peaceful

given Anna tweeted about 'since it happened' and mentioned bed, i'd say in his sleep :(

Is there anywhere that I could download the old Gamespot HotSpot episodes when Ryan and Jeff were on? I have never heard them.

This week's podcast image.

In some part of my brain I'm still processing this as "Ryan went off to work somewhere else", and then hits me that Ryan is GONE. Like, not gone to Australia gone. GONE gone.

And then it hits me like a ton o' bricks. :(

I'm right there with you. I think to myself that he'll make some guest appearances from time-to-time and then I realize that that is impossible and i get super depressed.

A day has gone by and I'm still shocked honestly. This was so completely out of left field, so unexpected. I see the thread title and I still can't believe it.

The podcast image is pretty powerful. I didn't think there would be a show today/tonight.

I just hate reading that thread title over and over. Makes me super uncomfortable and sad for everyone close to him.

Like others have said, we feel like we know these guys too after years of podcasting and videos.

Shit sux bro :(

I've thought about this dude so much in the last couple days it seems ridiculous to me when I consider it. I never even met him! And yet yeah I've totally met him. I've listened to hundreds of hours of his podcasts, I've watched him in hundreds of hours of video.

Last year was a hard year for me, moving to a new city and not knowing anyone. There were a lot of Friday nights home alone before I started making friends. Ryan Davis and co. kept me company.

Man this fucking sucks.

And a minute in and the gang are somehow making me laugh already. God damn this is going to make a mess out of us all isn't it.

Laughing with tears welling up. Love these guys.
