Republican Debate 9 [CBS News] Screw you guys, I'm going home

Drink and never stop is the only rule I'm rolling with.

Yeah pretty much how I roll it as well. Mostly because I like mixed drinks, don't usually do shots. That said, it is fun to listen to things being said to drink to so I might take a huge chug of my drink if I hear something like "wall" or "Clinton" or "Obama" or "emails" or etc..

If you are conscious for closing arguments you have failed.

This is true. I haven't made it to the end of a debate in a long while now.

"Obama" is a good hot word. I used "Reagan" last time, but it wasn't that great.

That's true. You have to find words that are used consistently, but not like so much you are killing people and so little you can't even get a buzz. It's a fine line.

Does anyone have drinking game rules for this?

I'm working on a shortlist right now. So far, I have:

* Someone name-drops Obama / Hillary / Bernie / Reagan
* Someone brings up their performance in Iowa / New Hampshire
* Someone brings up their poll numbers
* Someone complains about not being given ample question time
* Trump insults another candidate
* Rubio repeats himself
* 'Radical Islamic Terrorism'
* 'All Lives Matter'
* 'Unconstitutional Executive Orders'
* 'Repeal Obamacare'
* 'Tear up the Iran Nuclear Deal'
* 'Defund Planned Parenthood'
* 'This administration'
* 'Media bias'

Obviously a work in progress.

I don't know if my liver can take this. Only one way to find out :P

Im always suprised when i see John Dickerson. Listening to him on the gab-fest i always imagined him to look...not like he does...

What's everyone drinking tonight?

I'm going with Patron like last time (and as usual for me lately). I'm going to get drunk and make Mexico pay for it!

This is starting to looks less like a drinking game and more like a suicide pact...

Alternating between Honey JD and Super Bock (which for those of you who don't know is the best beer in the world) :P

Yup. Trump a Shooter.

Scalia's death may have just changed the entire atmosphere of the debates.

I was weighting back on forth on was it is right to mention it, or was it being ghoulish. But I imagine a shit loud of scrambling right now on the mods and the folks on stage

I've got a good one: drink every time Scalia's name is used by a candidate, but finish your beer if the phrase "defender of the constitution" is used

Looking forward to the debate. Hoping to see some clashes. More Marco Robo as well.

Edit: the next primary is a little further away than I though.

Supreme court becomes a yuge topic of conversation in the race now... Gonna get everyone to run to the right to confirm their conservative credentials and their ability to be trusted to nominate conservative judges. I wonder if that hurts Trump at all.

I think it does for tonight's debate for sure. I expect to see a focus on qualifications for being a Supreme Court Justice, and the Judicial Branch in general. And I don't believe anyone on that stage (or the Democratic stage) is more capable and well read on those issues than Ted Cruz.

No, it doesn't hurt him at all.

It might've changed both sides of the race. Up until today, the electability question seemed pretty low-priority for large chunks of both party's electorates; voters were in an angry, angry mood. Now? Candidates with better perceived electability might be getting a second look from voters.

No it doesn't. Obama will still nominate the new justice. As has been stated before, the longest it has ever taken to nominate one is 125 days. Obama has over 300.

Cruz will probably make some bullshit claim tonight that he will convince the Senate to block an Obama nomination, but it's bullshit.

So this is going to be all about the supreme court judge dying isn't it?
I'd be surprised. These guys go off prepared talking points mostly, save for Trump's improvisation. There will probably be a moment of silence before the debate and then someone will try to bring it up towards the middle, suggesting that Trump is not electable and "we'll" get stuck with a dem appointment to the court. Then Trump will say something insulting to him.
