Requesting reviews for KOF 02/03 ps2 !!!!

Could anybody here, who bought the game, post some impressions please ????????

I'd give it a 0.5 out of 10. The reason for such a low score is that I've never played it....., and the last KOF game I played was one that came out like 10 years ago. :D

Xplay gave it a 3 out of 5*

Now that's quality game reviewing man!

*IIRC

EGM didn't even give it a review...just a paragraph about how it's "more of the same," even though 2003 got a complete engine overhaul and a shitload of new characters. Wonder why SF Anniversary didn't get this same treatment?

I never liked this series but I work with a guy who loves it. He owns 2003 already, but he wants this version cause it has some more characters. And people knock sports fans for buying games with updated rosters?

I think the Street fighter series was way more popular and people knowed much more about SF than KOF in USA.

Anytime. :) That score is also the amount of copies the game has sold so far in the US. .5. One-half a copy. :)

You Street Fighter whore !!!!!! :lol

Joking.

That's funny, cause I've already paid in pre-orded the half of the game at my retailer. But they just don't have the game right now..........................So all the 0.5 IS MINE !!!!

WAY WAY WAY better than 2000/2001. 2002 has updated 3D backgrounds and effects, as does 2003. Both are vastly superior fighting games to 2K and 2K1, to boot. If yer a KoF fan, 2002/2003 is a MUST BUY.

Dunno if Mai was censored yet; I'm sure Lyte Edge can answer that.

KOF 2003 also got brand new backgrounds (counting the 2D versions, almost every stage now has 4-5 different versions selectable, some are vastly different from each other), sprites have been slightly improved (new "soft" feature to make them appear less jaggy), new play modes (survival and ORIGINAL KOF style 3-on-3 team play!), and an arranged soundtrack. The game is an awesome port and virtually superior to the original Neo-Geo version in every way. Highly recommended.

I'll be glad to post some screengrabs if you'd like. :)

No idea...Ben Herman (SNK USA president) claims it will be uncensored, but he's been wrong before. :P SvC Chaos on Xbox was uncensored, however, and that was their last 2D fighter released over here.

As for the Xbox KOF 2002/2003, it's going to be a while. KOF 2002 still has yet to see release in Japan, and I don't think KOF 2003 has even been announced yet.

Anyway, like Drinky said, 2002 and 2003 are MUST BUYS for fighting game fans. Both games are, IMO, FAR better than KOF '99-2001 were. Best of all, both games play differently from each other and have different rosters. I do think that 2003's PS2 enhancements are noticeably better than 2002's, but I guess that should be obvious. :) KOF '94 Rebout takes the enchancements one step further by making the sprites high res, BTW.

This is out? I thought it had been delayed again. Must have just mistaken it for the Xbox version. I'm gonna pick this up with Death By Degrees tomorrow.

Is the US ever going to get 94 Rebout?

It's not out yet. Drinky and I have the Japanese versions.

I wouldn't recommend buying Death By Degrees, BTW. It wasn't very good. :/

Very doubtful that the game would be released by itself, but perhaps SNK will bring it out as part of a collection sometime down the road. I forgot to mention that Rebout is also playable online via the KDDI service.

I might pick up the U.S. KOF 2002/2003 if both games are on one DVD, and certain..."information" I've seen on it suggests that it might be.

Ok, both GS and EB are saying it IS out for PS2. So what's the deal?

I HAVE to get DBD. Too big of a Tekken fan not to.

I was at EB today picking up NBA Street 3 and Shadow Of Rome; didn't see the game there. EBgames.com still says the game ships today, so stores will probably have it tomorrow. Guess I'll go check it out; if it's one disc, I'm buying it. :D

Don't say I didn't warn you. :) If you really want it, wait for a price drop. Trsut me, you aren't missing much. :P

Don't think it is, Lyte. According to the adfor the game in the most recent tips and tricks magazine, it is 2 discs.

Probably won't bother, then. :) I posted a message at Gamefaqs just now about it. People there are also saying both games are uncensored.

EDIT: Already got an answer...two discs. Oh well, I'll stick with the imports then. Saves me money. :)

Yea, I was thinking the same, a bit shallow.

I will agree with Giancarlo's point regarding control though. KoF can be pretty rigid, and MANY of the complex maneuvers seem to have an awful success rate(2k/2k1 particularly caused more stress than entertainment, even just dummying up in the practice mode).

I haven't touched 2002 on PS2, but this franchise is not the most comfortable to play. Other SNK offerings have far better tactile feedback response when inputting the myriad of direction twirling combos (I always wished KoF had the feel of Garou for instance). 2k3 is a brilliant push forward though, more versatile movelists and beefier input windows ARE pretty noticeable. (Or rather my incompetent self just has better luck.)

That said, this series has it's audience, and said audience have it pre-ordered at stores like Gamecrazy anyway.

I had no problem with the controls for the JP version of the KoF 2002 PS2. I have no idea what he's talking about, and I'm one of the bigger Dual Shock haters out there.

Well if his gaming aptitude matches my own, I don't think the Dual Shock is the problem...

Not being Korean is another.

For what it's worth, 1up.com posted OPM's review of the game today.
I'm sorry, but that's not a very good review. :\

I don't have the PS2 version yet (in the mail), but as far as the games are concerned, they're both great. If you're a fan at all, you'll love 'em. Both are above 2001 and way above 2000 in terms of visuals, controls, and rosters.

$20 = Mine!

I can't hide my love for the team of Yamazaki, Billy Kane, and some other guy not quite as cool as Yamazaki or Billy Kane.

Bouncing Mai boobies is good too.
