You are a terrible person.

Are you trying to get me to buy Nintendogs with your avatar?

Perhaps. Or perhaps you are looking into the small puppy's eyes and seeing within their infinite darkness the very reflection of your soul, and in turn unconciously coming to the inevitable conclusion that you must do this. And it is what you shall do.

Whoa, that's a large file to stream. For $20, I may someday pick up the PlayStation 2 version of Resident Evil 4...But I don't think I could bring myself to pay full price for a game that I already own on the GameCube.

Looks interesting. I almost feel like buying the game a second time!

Reilly, i don't know if your post what trolling... You should just play this game and judge after.

I'd actually support the whole PS2 superior version bull if it DID have real-time weapon switching.

But it doesn't.

So still 20 dollar bargain bin for me. But mmm, what a good 20 dollars it'll be...

That's funny...the very last adjective I'd ever consider using for RE4's gameplay would be “boring”.

Stressful. Awesome. Fun. Gorgeous. I would use those words. But gee.... not boring. Try hard next time man.

Yeah, those models look like ass. IIRC that's how the GC models look at some distance (you can see it during the cutscene right before
the cabin shoot out
).

Not really the superior version it seems :D

Already seen it, but still nice. I was already sold before but upon hearing this will have a 5 hour extra for Ada that further expands and shows what happened during Leon's events, I'm completely and utterly at the mercy of it's feet.

RE4 is truly special. It's one of those games where, after you have already completed it, everytime you hear of it, or see it again, you want to go and play all over again.

Unless you wait for EVERY game to hit 20 bucks, waiting for RE4 PS2 to hit 20 is insane. Screw waiting for it to go down in price 20 dollars man. It's one of the best games ever. Get it on GC, PS2, Gizmondo, whatever. Just get it the second you can. :P

RE 4 boring? Hmm, I don't think so. You'd need some very odd tastes to consider it boring. And I mean very odd tastes.

Zeo: If he already owns it on the Gamecube, and the extras don't interest him, he has every right to wait for a price drop.

Well I didn't know he owned it on GC, that was never said in this thread. :P

GC owners have a good excuse not to buy RE4 again, but PS2 only owners have no reason not to get RE4!! That is unless you have a thing against the best games ever!! If you do...then you lousy bas...

I don't think Capcom would want to show the game running like ass. It's kind of hard believing that the game can be so similar to the GC version, when the GC version supposably pushed the the GC to its limits. Not trying to start a war, just saying something doesn't seem right.

I guess we can all thank Masachika Kawata for that, he is in charge the PS2 conversion. He initially believed he couldn't be that faithful to the original but got more out of the PS2 than expected, now here we are and also got the PS2 version to not be restricted to the 360 lines of vertical resolution of the original.

It's not that close. The enemies are severely downgraded and so is the lighting. Not to mention some water effects.

Enemies "severely" downgraded? I've watched the full resolution videos at IGN, and I can't see that downgrade. You're literally the first person to mention that, at least on this forum.

Also, how you can judge the lighting from these videos that essentially don't have any thunders/torches/night scenes from the game? The only difference I can see is that gunshot blasts don't light Leon's face, while they did sometimes on GC.

I got to go back to RE4 again cause "severe downgrade" wasn't exactly what came to mind when I watched the video, it was more "Holy crap, I didn't expect it to be that good!"

EDIT: I wonder if the 16-bit dithering is lessened? The last batch of pics didn't show quite as much as the GC pics.

Well there is 33% bigger eDRAM on the GS so who knows.

I think it looks great and much better than most people expected. That said, it is not the graphical showcase the GC version was.

The dithering issues would only be gone if they switched to 24bit buffer rendering. 16bit buffer is pretty uncommon on PS2, actually, so it wouldn't be that surprising, but could they really afford that in a game with graphics so intensive like this?

I just played this game for a little while again the other day, and I can honestly say I wouldn't have know that trailer wasn't for the GC version if it didn't say at the top. They did a phenomenal job with the PS2 version. Kudos.

Although I still wish it would have sold a few more GCs back in January.
