Resident Evil Requiem — Switch 2 gameplay (offscreen)

Original Switch couldn't even run REVII so they had use cloud version to run the game while Switch 2 is running latest RE game on it…….and people say Switch 2 just "pro" version of original Switch.

Mindblowing. Unlocked framerate quite a bit above 30s and certainly keeps the RT lightning. This handheld is truly special, regardless of what some might say.

This looks better than the trailer, wondering if it was made with an early build of the game. According to Digital Foundry, they didn't remove the RTGI, so this makes the second ray traced game running solidly. And this looks like 60fps

Game-Key Cart stuff aside it is pretty cool to see a competent day one Switch 2 version rather than a port.

Last time a mainline RE arrived on Nintendo day-and-date must've been RE4?

Technically the GC version was an exclusive for several months.

Switch 1 could barely run RE5 and RE6 better than a Xbox 360. That's how low the bar we were working with was.

The decision to go with Nvidia again really paid off for Nintendo. Those APUs are really showing the massive architectural advantages going on with Nvidia's engineering versus AMD. I might actually buy and play the Switch 2 port if the final product is as impressive as this demo seems.

And Switch 2 is running latest PS5 game on 60 FPS, so I would say Switch 2 big generational leap over original Switch instead just being "Pro" version.
We knew that since the TFLOPS figures were out there, frankly. 0.4 TFLOPS at best against 3.1 from the specs we got...? Yeah, this leap was utterly ridiculous, as much as many were on denial.

Looks like there are no hair physics at all outside of the cutscenes. Also a lot of shimmering with the hair. I can get over the lack of shadows but I find the flicker too distracting.
I dislike the blurrines that TAA usually brings but unfortunately is often needed to avoid shimmering. If they are using DLSS it could be at a very low internal resolution.

Not shocked, all of the new Resi games run well on the Steam Deck and this version obviously will get far more attention and such on Switch 2.

Looks like it's running great.

Uuuh, is it 60fps?! We sure that's not some camera off screen recording trickery? I thought for sure it'd be 30 at best (and would still consider it a miracle port looking like it does with RT). Is it like 120 fps on the other systems then?

If this ran like ass this thread would be 5 pages by now

Let's be honest, we're looking at off-screen footage of a tiny screen, very hard to gauge much from this. Can't tell how good the textures/lighting etc looks compared to other versions and off-screen also often masks performance dips.

Getting actual impressions from people playing it and / or direct footage will be much better.

I was honest in the OP. Looks like it's running great.

We've seen that in direct feed though. Edit: dude's so triggered folks think it looks/runs great, lol, as if anyone said it's the same as on a 5090 ti super ultra dx🤷‍♂️

The framerate definitely doesn't lie at least, it's unlocked hovering between 40s and 50s... Impressive as hell.

Yeah of course, and you could tell the differences in IQ, lighting etc there. It's a lot harder to tell that in this off-screen footage.

Relative to it being on the Switch and in handheld, yes it seems to be pretty smooth.

But then again all RE engine games have ran or targeted 60 even on the Xbox One VCR. The engine is pretty good in non-open-world games.

It's definitely not 30fps. Maybe 40-50ish with VRR smoothing things out? We need kevboard kevboard to break this
The footage is 60fps and i quickly checked frame by frame… I can be wrong but there's not duplicates frame or weird interpolation. Each frame is unique, so is indicative of a native 60 fps, also looks like RT is implemented, which is more impressive. I noticed a reduction in the geometry complexity and lower resolution shadows i some places. Textures are really good, and the issue with the hair, but looks a little bit better than the reveal trailer.

The RE Engine is a work of art imo.

This is REX engine, rather. I am sure that most of the commits they were going to implement are present in this game.

No need to downplay the magic here. It looks incredible.
