During the film's final sequence the director explains all while also suggesting that the franchise's nuttiest days are, remarkably, yet to come.

These guys totally get it. Who's here for flop reviews of this film? NHFT. Ebert who?

RESIDENT EVIL 6 - OUT 2ND OCTOBER 2012!!!

Let me just pre-empt a few things: "Why are they keep making this?", "Why can't it be more like the game?", "Alice is a Mary-Sue", "Paul Anderson is a hack!", "Complete global saturation", "Jill is hot". Did I miss anything else?

And oh, don't forget to pick up "Resident Evil 6" (see above) next month, Capcom's livelihood depends on it! Plus, if you think the film's plot is ridiculous, wait till you see the plot of the new game!!!

Guess I will be there at midnight like I have for all of them, definitely not as excited for this though because the Chris Claire thing.

I used to hate these movies. Just because they didn't mix with older games, and yeah, everything about them.

But, after Afterlife, they just clicked. I understood them. They are so batshit insane, that you can't help but love them. I even went back and saw the other ones again with the same mindset, and I adored how crazy they really are.

Probably won't catch this until it releases on home-media, but still looking forward to it. I just want to experience what kind of crazy shit they come up with next.

I'm hyped. The last movie was an absolute blast in the theather. Some really good moments in 3D, and a great mixture of action and cheese. Looking forward to it!

Can't wait.

You should have brought more.

Their Wesker was perfect.

I went into the theather blind, so I didnt know about the obvious RE5 references. Loved it when the RE5 Wesker fight appeared.

How many more movies has come out since the part Milla developed
super powers
? That was the last part I saw but I might do a Resident Evil marathon run next month.

Zombie bikers...?

I am in. I'm here for the Wesker and the beauty that is Milla and whoever plays Jill and the utter ridiculousness of everything.

Such a ridiculous series. I thought the last one was a tad boring, but I'm more than willing to check this one out. I hope the explanation for Michelle Rodriguez being back is suitably brain dead.

I have never seen a Resident Evil movie.

But now I kind of get the urge to buy them all and marathon them in preparation for RE6 and this movie.

They suck.

But unlike some movies that suck, they're watchable, and you can occasionally have fun with them.

The action scenes look great in those preview clips.

And yeah the movies are cheesy as hell but that makes them awesome popcorn flicks.

EDIT: LOST it at the marketing "Mila Jovovich in 3D!"

It's not JUST that they're cheesy. Plenty of films are cheesy, but are also good. The RE films are pretty shitty in a lot of ways.

Sony did the same thing for Kate Beckinsale with the last Underworld movie, which became the largest grossing movie in the series. They know what's up.

I watched one of the newer RE movies on television the other day... it was soooooooooo bad. I think I would be able to tolerate these films if not for the Alice character. They create this awful character who isn't even from the games and the films all revolve around her. (I'm assuming... I only watched half of the first and this one) It seems like all the real RE stuff is just a backdrop for this character to be a slow-motion superhero.

I think she tried to be a superhero in some movie once and it bombed... so hey lets use the RE fans to crowdsource another attempt. Now multiple attempts. We'll throw 'em a bone now and again with game references and hollow characters, but only in supporting roles around Alice the superhero.

I might be way off though...

It looks like a bad music video. Nevertheless, I will endure it just to see Sienna in Jill's purple suit....yummmmm.

You can already see her in it at home in the last film. ;)

The last one was in 3D as well. Wonder why they didn't do that Mila in 3D! thing. Actually they might have... Can't remember.

I do wonder if they now just throw darts at charts of things from the games to decide what goes in. I mean, I guess Leon and Ada are in Resident Evil 6 and were in 4, so they're recently prominent, but randomly Barry? Sure he's popular but it's way out of nowhere.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
Michelle Rodriguez? I thought she died in the first one?

(Disclaimer: I haven't seen one of these since the first.)

Well....there's a reason for that.

Spoilers.
Apparently, they are clones. Apparently, original personnel were cloned and split into "good" and "no-feeling/evil" clones

Can't wait for this. One of my fave movie guilty pleasures.

edit: Ahaha, they're literally throwing stuff in from RE games again. From one of the clips in the OP they have the
Ada and Leon's little "try using knives next time" sequence from RE4 castle with Ada and Alice

new series

that should kill your interest

:(
I'm just surprised that Capcom is so confident in the new game that they actually consider making a movie out of it, whereas the old series only got an anime... and from what I remember, it was pretty boring (got a good opening theme, though).

Yep, RE movies are all about Alice. Every other character is just a background for her, unable to do anything useful. Jill almost had few scenes for herself in RE2, but then Alice made her big entrance and immediately stole the spotlight. :/

I just wish the series could get back to the atmosphere of the first movie, where characters actually acted like humans (besides that one slow-mo kick on Cerberus), were likeable and the story wasn't so damn ridiculous and over-the-top. Everything were so much simpler back then. We got a guy who wanted to get quick money, a computer that sealed everyone in order to prevent virus infection (quite reasonable action), and a team of soldiers that went underground to check what happened. Now? We got zombies on bikes,
clones
, the entire world infected with the virus, megalomaniac who wanted to "ingest" Alice (seriously, wtf did Anderson think when he came out with that?), Alice who can still do super action stuff without being infected with the virus anymore etc...

The sad thing is, the same can be said about the games :(

If he's anything like "Chris" or "Claire" from movies 3 and 4, then he will only be a Barry lookalike (at least, because neither Chris nor Claire even looked like their game counterparts, not to mention acted like ones).

And I think that a dart system is really what they are using. We got Majinis and the Executioner in Afterlife, taken straight from RE5, but without any explanation (well, they explained that zombies had those weird thing happening with their mouths and that now they can burrow the ground with it... or something like that).

I've come into the thread, taken one look at a zombie biker with a chainsaw, and decided that this cannot possibly be any good. 1 was good, 2 was passable, and the rest have been atrocious. My mind may be changed by the trailers, but we shall have to wait and see.

Wesker makes all the drek in between worth it.

What are they even fighting for anymore!?

THE WORLD ENDED!

This is what I don't get. There's no world anymore. The entire planet is filled with zombies. What the hell is Umbrella (or Wesker) actually trying to achieve now? You can't be a greedy corporation that sells bioorganic weapons in a world where there's no more human that would actually buy the stuff.

So I guess the movie I watched the other day was Afterlife.

The entire Alice character annoys me for even existing, but that aside... the movie was hilarious. The way that Chris and Claire meet? 99.9% of the human population is zombified or dead... and these two happen to bump into each other in a chance meeting? LOL.

There's so much shit like that... but the best part was how
they killed
Wesker
and then brought him back to life with a "GOTTCHA!" about 3-4 times in the movie. Even chickened out at the end! At least RE5 had the balls to kill him dead.
(major RE5 and movie spoiler)

Seriously... that shit was hilarious. I was like. Again?

What really weirded me out was the creepy sexual tension waves that Chris gave off towards Claire. Pretty pervy.

I know, right? Insanity for the sake of insanity.

I actually liked the first one, which was dumb, but had an interesting concept and worked well as a showcase of elements from the games. Awesome Marilyn Manson produced techno-score, too. If they had stopped there, I would look back on it fondly.

Everything else has been random and dumb.

Well, I have to say the primary reason I watched that movie was because the actress who plays Claire but looks and acts nothing like Claire is hot as fuck.

At one point she's fighting in the shower
thank christ Alice was out of the scene for a few seconds
and I stood up in my living room and gave a shout like it was a football game... haha.

Movie kept me watching. Primarily because she was hot and also out of morbid curiosity...
