Ok so I bit the bullet and bought all 4 episodes on Steam. Really looking forward to this but at the same time I'm crying forever about my waifus Jessica and Rachael not being in this. :'(
A Raid Mode spoilery question: Do
Chris and Jill have their Captain/Pirate outfits from RER1? Or any alternate outfits for that matter?
On your first comment, you may find a bit of solace with Gina. With the second question, sadly no, neither of those Raid characters you mention have alt outfits.
RE2 is still my favorite but this one has the best plot in the series IMO. It was very well done. I liked everything about it. This game also elevated Claire from being my favorite female character in a game to something downright untouchable

Imagine if they made a new Outbreak that was also a dedicated Raid game and also a dedicated Mercs game, with characters and settings and scenarios from the entire series history (alongside original content, as per Outbreak). So three games in one.
It just goes back to lv. 1 for the new characters receiving that skill. It's still max level for the character who trained in it. And characters continue to receive SP after lv. 100. In fact, iirc, you receive like 10 sp per level instead of 5! Very user-friendly and flexible.
PC patch that adds RE.net support should be going up soon, according to a Capcom employee on the Steam forums. Unfortunately the performance patch isn't included and we'll have to wait a little bit longer for that one.
RER2 is excellent. Best RE since RE4. It's winning over a lot of support even from the ardent old-school RE fans. Just masterfully paced, with lots of variety. Great atmosphere, and great characters. A wonderful blend of horror and humor and heart. There are even puzzles along the way more puzzles in the third episode alone than RE4, RE5 and RE6 combined. Incredible value for the low price they're asking. Shame the previews didn't do it justice.

Man, Raid is starting to kick my ass again, even with my katana/melee mastery. On Very Hard, the level inside a subway train has invisible Napads with the power to warp you closer and closer, with butt-beasting ice Hunters dogpiling on top.
Welp just finished Ep 4. Decided to jump into Claire Ep 2 Invis Mode and...this will be interesting.
Thoughts on the campaign:
+The best story in a Resident Evil game. I know, I know, not saying much. But still, they really got me to care about Barry looking for Moira, and his conversations with Natalia just made him such a convincing dad. Moira is great, too, with the best lines in the game.
"Come through that glass and you'll see me choke a God."
And that ending, wow, they nailed it, right down to the ridiculous one-liners. Epic epilogue. Claire is the greatest.
+Good atmosphere for most of the game. Small amounts of enemies and limited ammunition meant constantly searching the environment with Moira/Natalia for ammo. This slows the playthrough down and brings the locales more to the forefront, which added to the mood.
+ Claire's story affecting Barry's story and having a few different endings felt like old-school Resident Evil.
+ Partners were well integrated to nearly every aspect of the game. I was almost constantly switching back and forth to make use of the strengths of each, which is how it should be.
- Some of the area gimmicks were more annoying than fun. Wasn't a huge fan of the box conveyer belting or the toxic gas countdowns
- Despite my praise above, partners were not well integrated into the boss fights. Mostly they just lagged behind you and got swatted by the boss, which leads to just sticking them in a corner somewhere hoping they don't die. The only exception here is Moira's usefulness against the Ep 3 boss.
- No decapitations from headshots? Come on, mang. Gunplay in general was average at best.
All in all, most single-player fun I've had since RE4. Interested to see how this plays coop as that's how I played 5 and 6.

is if anything sees you its automatic game over screen, literally. The episode is purely stealth, the problem I had with glusps is it was kind of difficult to read their patrol path pattern to sneak by in cases where there was more than one patrolling.
Luckily though I got past that final section first attempt.

Jesus christ, those Jim sterling reviews are such utter shit. He's still raving about capcom being greedy fucks about making the game episodic, and the microtransactions.
Ep4 is being downloaded at home, while I'm stuck at work with 7 more hours to go...
This game is the only game in a while, that i can't wait to finish, so i can play the whole thing again.
Even as a RE fan, i think it's too good.
My top 5 atm: RE4>REmake>Rev2>RE2>RE6.
Mostly stuff (inconsistency) related to other games, Claire not knowing how to care for children, she saying guns are more reliable than people, her overplayed crush with Neil, etc.
But...that was an old discussion, mostly a sloppy localization that caused a bit of confusion,, i was just surprised you said that, Claire seems to have a minor role compared to the other characters.

Finished episode 4, got the good ending and then watched the bad ending on YouTube. Very cool stuff. I'm looking forward to checking out the extra episodes, but they sound difficult.
I'm ashamed to admit that this is my first time playing side condent from Resident Evil. I'm super hooked to the Raid Mode.
But I'm somewhat sad knowing that I missed Mercernaries and stuff from other games. I guess I know what I'll be playing next once the damn patch is released for RE5 on steam.
Is Mercenaries from RE5 considered the best one? Or was it RE4?
