Music (if you can call it that) sucks now. Stop selling people shit in plastic cases and maybe sales might increase a tiny bit. Stop ****ing over your consumers who pay you and sales might increase a tiny bit. Lawsuits haven't stopped shit and these morons don't realize it, so all I can say to them is to get ****ed.
I wonder what the actual percentage is of legally transferrable content on all the file sharing networks and systems.
I'm guessing it's significantly less than 1%, maybe 1 in 1,000 files. Maybe even less than that.
Whether this ruling is true, legal, constitutional, ethical or not, I'd be shocked if legal file transfers made up even a small portion of all the file sharing that actually takes place.
You're probably right. I think there's more legal file sharing than ever before - with stuff like iTunes and Amazon selling digital movies, and of course the iTunes store, but I'd bet that there's still a huge (possibly unknowably huge) amount of people who just indiscriminately steal whatever they want, and then try to pass it off as "defending piracy is freedom." I wish more people would just be honest and be like, I steal movies and music because I don't want to pay for it, and it's not any higher calling or great crusade or political statement, it's just because I didn't want to pay nine bucks to see The Departed.
And the thing is, i don't think this article is real, I don't think this coudl ever actually happen - shutting down the internet would never happen, but if it did? I wonder whose fault that would be? the kids who ruined it for everyone else?
This article is quite alarmist and stretches logic quite a bit.
Still, I would love to see the RIAA try to shut down file sharing. They would die quickly from lawsuits from just about everyone who conducts business over the net.
OMG!!!!! LET'S KEEP TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!! IT'S ALMOST LIKE WE'RE FIGHTERS OF FREEDOM!!!!! PISS OFF....... RIAA!!!!!

Did you hear about the girl who went to some really nice University who got caught downloading?
The RIAA and/or MPAA contacted her and made it personal. She asked them (not exact quotes as I was skimming through the article in a store), "I am a college student who can barely afford to be here, how will I now?" And they said something like "well, you'll have to drop out, go to community college instead, and maybe get another job." The RIAA apologized and said they are not permitted to make it personal like that.
It is AMAZING how many times these goons have crossed the line this decade. I'm disgusted.
Sooner or later, they'll just target a nutso/psycho crazy enough to go after them all, people have killed for a lot less, we saw what happened with the unabomber... of course I'm entirely opposed to that sort of thing, and that'll be a sad tragic day indeed( if someone actually goes that far.).
